screen resolution problem

i changed my screen resoultuion to the one below 800x600 and when it loaded up all there was is screwed up colors. so i reinstalled it and deleted the hl2 files but it still did the same thing

plz does someone know how to fix this

why would you want to play it in any lower resolution than 800x600?

i was trying to get more fps
but i just want to know how to fix it
i mean when u unistall it shouldnt the settings be erased

Yah but... I don't think anything lower than 800x600 would really help.. what kind of setup do you have? Must be a really old video card if you can't seem to get a good fps at 800x600.

But tell me your system specs, and maybe I can help you. Cause if your system well surpasses the requirments for the game there is no reason you should be having to subdue yourself to such low resolutions.

384 pc2100 ddr
80gb hd
geforce fx 5200

i was just seeing how it would look to go into that resoulution then i would change it back. but i dont think my card supported it

Omg, you well surpass the min req's, you should be able to run it at 1024x768 with everything at full detail, unless your experiancing stuttering and sound issues, in that case its not your hardware its a well known problem and is being fixed by valve, so you'll just have to wait.
