There's too much crap going around right now. This delay email thing has really gotten out of hand, i dunno who to believe anymore. You won't see me till the 30th where I'll either be posting my apology thread or my own3d thread... untill than later.
 
Buh bye, Kyle. This crap is pissing me off now too.

Valve really does owe us an apology...to have Lombardi and Coomer reiterate September 30th less than a month ago at ECTS, then float a delay announcement through back door channels was a nasty move.
 
Look people, go outside for a bit, get some fresh air, maybe even a girlfriend (ok now I am pushing it). I am mad that it's delayed but this is just a game, don't jump off a cliff over it. The delay really isn't going to be that long and we have many other games to play until then, DoD, CS, Desert Combat, Halo, Halo 2 which should be out soon, and countless other games. If we all forget about it the game will come much soon ;).

I concour , and I am done waiting. Sad that I will first experience Havok2 with Max Payne 2, which *gasp* will probably hit its projected release date.
 
Fact is, Valve most likley worked there asses off to try and make sept 30th release, but they realised that working 24 odd hours straight with no sleep still wont get the game finished in time.
Valve are working there asses off for us, and we all slate them, its totally wrong.
I mean seriously, why the hell should Valve even release the game, if all people ever do is slate them for wanting to make a 5 yr project actually stand out as an excellent product with little to no bugs, and perfect game play!
Just stop moanin, good things come to those who wait.

dunno, i feel like there's only a few of us that actually believed that valve could make the release date. i think we should get a prize for trusting valve, the creator of the greatest game of all time:cheese:
 
That was a good post....but lets see a different senario:

(Valve offices)

Gabe: So doug, things looking good?

Doug: Its bad news Gabe, we found a bug that could quite possibly take another week to fix!

Gabe: You must be kidding me! were suppose to ship this game on the 30th!

Doug: I know! but it came out of nowhere, it was found today in play testing. Were currently fixing it.

*A pause*

Gabe: Were going to have to offically delay the game...

Doug: Are you crazy?! the fans will go crazy!

Gabe: It has to be done! I'll leave that to you, I'm now going to my nuclear bunker, I'll be out after the flame war's are over...

OR, this might of happend:

(Valve offices)

Doug: Gabe, we still havent fixed that bug...

Gabe: You said it would be fixed by now doug! We were suppose to of gone gold two days ago!

Doug: I know Gabe! I know! But the fact is, its one tricky little bastard, but as soon as we get it, I beleive Half-life 2 will be gold!

Gabe: Hmm, that will be a good day when Half-life 2 is gold! Ok, you better make an offical delay email, and send it out....

Doug: An offical delay?! May god have mercy on us all...

So you see, that could of happend aswell, becasue we have no idea why its been delayed, until Valve tell us exactly why, which will never happen, so we just have to wait:D!

I honestly believe that if it were just one or two bugs left to clear up the words "targeting a holiday release" wouldn't have been used. I really think that they would have to have some severe bugs left to deal with if they went from "we're still on for 9/30" to "targeting a holiday release". And I think that these would be issues that they wouldn't have just realized in the past week they wouldn't be able to clear up before a holiday release date. Again, just my little opinion. :)

Doug: Gabe, wake up.

Doug: You overdosed on fat, you had to go to hospital. Ive sent out an e-mail saying the game is delayed, it should be arriving there any second.

Gabe: No! What have you don...

*A bright flash lights up the sky. A loud explosion and screams can be heard, but above that the sounds of vicious N00bs on the rampage*

Gabe: You fool, they are going to kill us! We have to go, now....Well dont just stand there, help me up.

Doug: I cant, you're to heavy. I'm sorry, i have to leave without you.

Gabe: The hell you do

*Gabe grabs doug and wont let go*

Doug: No, i dont want to die.

*A huge fire ball can be seen through the window heading towards them*

Gabe: Oh no...
 
lol don't worry farrowlesparrow, sooner or later we'll all wake up and it'll be the 30th and we'll be playing hl2
 
I think they got pwned by Vivendi. If you think about the fact that Vivendi had long ago commited itself to a greedy Holiday release merely for sales. Too bad for Valve , my excitement for HL2 is killed.
 
Im still excited, but its gone down a lot. I was excited because it was so close. Now i dont know when its gonna come out. So long as it doesnt go Duke Nukem, i dont mind.
 
actually DimitriPopov that is the only reason that really makes sense...
 
So far it seems that way. Lets just hope that if that is the reason, their greed stops them from delaying it beyond the holidays.

why? they would only lose money if it was delayed beyond the holidays, stupid vivendi.
 
Thats what i mean. If they have indeed been the cause of this delay, then the game will not be delayed further, because vivendi dont want to lose money. So, they will make sure that its released in the best season.
 
it's complete bs, the game is finished so release it. it's not like it's gonna make any difference if it's released now or a couple months from now, it's gonna be making money for five years. /me kicks vivendi in the nuts.
