I didnt know this. I bought a second hander from Gamestation just the other day. Is this true?

Illegal, says who? If it was illegal, EBGames, Gamestop, and all the other game stores couldn't buy and sell them.

It's not illegal, but the publishers hate it because they get no money for the sale.

They get money from the initial sales, so I don't see why they'd hate it...

They consider it losing money because you probably bought the copy of the game for less money of which they got none.

As opposed to you buying the game new which they get money.

But it's not illegal unless the person burned a copy of it and then sold the original.

its perfectly legal

IF
you give them everything you got, box manual ect.
AND
you destroy any digital copies/backups you have
