hi, i am intersted in buying a new case seeing as my case at the moment has no intake fans :s
i have been looking at the acrylic see-through cases, thinking they look pretty stylish ( well in my opinion they do :p ) anyways some person who my dads business buys all there computers off said to my dad to tell me that if i was thinking of buying one of those see-through cases i shouldnt because of some crazy radiation thing, i would have had more details if my dad could remember exactly wot he said. but anyway, back to the point, are the cases safe? and does anyone know any cons? thanks in advance

haha, ok thanks, i jsut wanted to make sure, so u no, i didnt one day wake up with one ball or an eyeball on my penis.

Think about what your getting... IMO they are junk. For one you gotta fully assemble the case. They break easily. And three, you can never get a good wire job done since when you tuck it behind the mobo or HDD cage or soemthing you can see it from the other side, unlike a normal case.

Yes and don't forget that there actually is a reason for cases being aluminum -- it's thermally conductive. A normal case can act as one big heat sink for your computer system. Acryllic is...not so good at that...

In fact, I would recommened merely buying new fans for your current case...

I just got a new case...most decidedly not a window one though, rather a very solid looking black mid tower that I fell in love with.
The more metal there is to conduct away heat the better, but if you play it smart any case can work.

Actually the normal case doesn't act as a heatsink :P only the new special Zalman one does.

The reason most cases are of aluminium or whatever the hell they are made of is because it's cheaper then acrylic and it doesn't break as easily.

While an entire case made to act as a heatsink doubtless does a better job, any case will conduct away heat.

acryllic cases are fine if you know how to wrap up your wires with loom and ties... radiation isn't a problem.. Think about it, if you sit in front of a CRT all day it isn't going to be much better :p

I wouldn't go with an acryllic case anyways, I always like to buy a stock metal case and then mod it myself. That way you can make it just how you like it. Cut a window hole, rivet the plexi on, add some fan holes...

Oh, and about the "case being a giant heatsink" thing... you will not notice a diff in temps between an aluminum and acryllic case, unless they have different ventallation.

BTW, most cases are steel, more expensive ones are all aluminum, and some as you see are either hybrids or all acryllic.

If you are going acryllic, get rounded IDE cables (you can get them with UV string on them too if case modding is your thing) because it will make it look nicer :)

The radiation he was talking about is electronic interference. Metal stops it from coming out, but more importantly from going in. It's usually not a problem.

The best and worst part with acrylic cases is you see everything, so you have few places to hide things. However if done right you can show off your work better.

If you want to see some examples of how they look or what people have done with them then check out twistedmods.com and their forums.

yeh thats wot iw as talking bout, ok so i think i wont get one now, thanks
