Kinda like we've all taken a beating...all the buzz about the gold hoax was exhilarating, and then so awful. I think I'm on the verge of losing interest for a while unless something new happens soon...now I don't feel like there is anything to look forward to...I do know that the game will eventually come out, but it could be October, November...who knows at this point. Even if I read about a milestone in a forum from a VALVe employee I can't trust it as being real...I think I'm gonna just have to self induce a HL2 coma...

I think if a Valve employee made a post telling about a big HL2 milestone I would still believe it. That gold date therad was just bad luck, what's the probability of it happening twice.

Ahh, the good times pre March when April was the month to look to. It's not as quiet here as it was in january/February
 
yea i feel for you man.

i do feel the same with all the hoax's/news/1000X release dates over the years. it is all getting old now.

we need a gold date so we can be all hyped again and wait for that certain day to come
 
Heres an idea. Find something to do for 2 weeks. Do not come here, or go to any other HL2 related site. When 2 weeks is up, come back. THere might be some exciting news. You're dragging it out by being here all the time, waiting for some "announcement". The more you wait the longer it will seem. Give it a rest for a while, let your anticipation build up again. So yeah, go away for 2 weeks. I know I am.
 
I'm not sure how anyone could describe the buzzing insanity that is HL2N as 'quiet'. :E
 
I just pop in once in a while to see if there is anything new. When i heard the news about the so called gold date i was like meh i believe it when i see it. I didnt care. So when i read that it was a hoax i just laughed.

But yeah, i was on my most active last year around this time. But then it was delayed, and then i popped in once in a while to see if there was anything new that time too... but all we have had since then are 1000 release dates, speculation hither and dither. Its all getting tiresome and i think im not alone with that thought.

So now im here then, popping in, after year off from the hype.. the rumor is that it will be released in september. Valva said summer 2004. Its fall already. I guess its summer in the US `till october november, just in time to start Xmas in october ;)

Yeah, I know. It really helps to make time go faster. I've done it a couple of times. And when I came back at summer, there was the "official gold date estimate" news on the main page. You remember the one we're Gabe said they're looking to August
 
i'm fooling myself with playing other games waiting for this. my heart skipped a couple of beats on that fool's gold(pyrite) announcement, but i just hope the real thing's around the corner.

btw i like your avatar sickmind. birth of venus by botticelli is one of my top favs. unlike some other popular paintings i was pleasantly surprised to see how large it was in the Uffizi.
 
This whole situation could be summed up as wastefull. That's from Sept 30 to now. What a waste of my time.

The reason is because they pull you in the push you back over and over. waste.
 
I agree, it's alot more quiet than it usually is. I think with the gold hoax people are just in shock. Everyone seems to be waiting for something to happen. We have discussed every possible topic of HL2 over and over and over again. From milk cartons in HL2 to Headcrab types. There's really not much to talk about.
 
well im not mad at valve because of the hoax, but its also made me hang around the forums as much. Just lost interest in any news, but i still cant wait :D
 
I think I speak for all of us when I say, I'm just sick of never getting any official news from Valve. They never make any press statements. Only send emails to random people, or post on message boards. They have the most loyal fans among fps games, but they crap all over our high expectations :(
 
Regardless we will wait for this game till the end of time! For we all know judging from the videos it still has the same reticent feel of hl1 and yet so much more.

Half Life 2 is like on Austin Powers where they run the guy over with the steamroller. You know it is comming but you just don't want to get out of the way.
 
Its quiet... Too quiet...

Really though you could almost look at this as the calm before the storm (a real storm that is). Its only temporary, the game truly is very close to release now, at the beggining of the month Valve supposedly sent in their first release candidate to Vivendi, it really can't be that much longer before the game truly does go gold.

I along with alot of other people here predict it within the next 1 to 2 weeks. Until then expect nothing but silence and depression from alot of people. Or anger from a few.
