the engineers at skynet made a self conscious robot that can adapt to injury or environmental changes.

ok, now think what would happened if we gave the robot modern multicore processors, hundreds of gigs of HDD space, legs, arms, more sensors and weaponry. you'd truly have a killing machine.
 
I thought by "self conscious" you meant it got embarrased if it's pant fell down, or it's shoes didn't match.

I think you meant "self aware" -in it's most basic sense, instead of "self conscious".
