I bet all the young super liberal democrats are biting their lips right now.So much for Democrats being against big "evil" Corporations.
More proof that Politicians are all in the same bag.
Is this the change you voted for? I thought the Internet was supposed to not regulated.....

What, you think McCain would have done any differently?

This is a huge disappointment, but I don't know what the **** you're talking about "the change you voted for".

If it's a cyber war they want, it's a cyber war they'll get.

I can't stand McCain either just like Hokey I don't vote and I never will.I'm trying to point out it's all the same shit.Demo****s are no different then Republiturds they just attract different Voters with different gimmicks.
Once they have power they all answer to Corporations and Special Interest not the people that voted for them in this farce they call Democratic elections.

They are different on many different levels... though on some levels they're absolutely the same.

Explain to me how they're no different though, from your perspective. I want to hear it. And no generic cliche "they're all the same... just lesser of two evils blah blah blah" crap.

Your statements are such a large blanket that it's ridiculous.

Also you don't vote, so don't take it too personally when I can't muster the energy to care what you think about the political process. You're bitching about democracy but you don't even participate in it given the chance.

Considering its not just big corporations who lose out to piracy, and the internet isn't being regulated beyond laws preventing real crimes, I can honestly say, as a person labeled a democrat, this isn't a terrible thing. Theft of intellectual properties is not free speech, and should not be protected as such. When I talk of an unregulated internet, I strictly mean equal access regardless of the whims of your ISP, and freedom to share information and opinions as covered by free speech. Video games, music, etc are not information, they're products and properties.

Gitmo is still open. (not that I care.) but I know alot of people like No Limit are disappointed by that fact.
and speaking of big evil corporations that always get a free pass under Rep. rule Obama is handing waivers left and right to exclude corporation form the same rules that come in tow with healthcare law Obama was so proud of.
That's just the stuff that comes to mind right now....Ima grab dinner and be back.

ninja edit: Krynn do you also think the U.S has the right to take down foreign websites like TPB etc? Cuz that's what this bill is targeting- foreign websites.

Sounds like this topic was just a thin veil for your disconnected and shallow ramblings.

I can't stand McCain either just like Hokey I don't vote and I never will.

If you don't take the freedom you are lucky to have to be able to vote and participate in a democracy then don't complain when it does stuff you don't like.

No, I dont think they have that right, but thats irrelevant since thats not what this bill is doing. The US isn't taking them down, they're just preventing US companies from empower such sites. Thats perfectly fine as far as I am concerned, since they're protecting the IPs of US citizens and companies.

As for your other points, I'll not address them since they're off topic and just an attempt at "haha stoopid libfags" baits, and besides, I doubt you'd be very pleased with my response to them. Start a new thread if you want to ask people if they're happy with Obama's performance.

Yarrr, this bill be hatin' I tells ya.

So you guys are cool with the US government blocking access to any site that they deem to be sharing intellectual property? When western IP law is more strict and obtuse than it's been in decades, corporate and federal accountability is nil, Net Neutrality is constantly on its deathbed, and class-action lawsuits are now largely impossible? Cool, just making sure.

I'm confused as to how this affects anything then.

Basically all its going to do is have American ISPs pretend sites that blatantly host illegal content just don't exist, and they'll be invisible and inaccessible to people using that ISP. That way people who visit sites that host torrents of illegal files in a huge databases of illegal torrents (like piratebay was, or non-torrent based sites like rapidshare or whatever) will be denied access. The site isn't down, you just can't get to it. Now, I don't deny that issues could arise from how they determine what sites are willfully hosting illegal content, especially since I don't trust old ****s like the senators to know what is a practical level of scrutiny of user uploaded data for a file hosting service, but I think the good outweighs the evil.

But Youtube monitors their site for infringements and take them down. I imagine that as long as a sites take measures to remove infringement content, they won't be blocked.

I think that this is a step in the right direction, but we have to watch this carefully. Like most laws, there is the potential or abuse. People who care should contact their representatives, and VOTE.

I you think you are somehow not responsible for all this by refusing to vote, you are delusional. Not voting is the WORST thing you can do. Not voting is a big part of the reason we are in this current situation.

Change won't come riding in on a charging stallion. One politician won't change shit. REAL change happens of decades and generations.

War: Yeah... you found one of the ways that many of the democrats have budged on. They're ****ing assholes for doing so, especially turning Libya into more than what it was intended to be. There's no defense for Libya right now and you're right that is one way they're the same. It's not all of them though, it's some of them. It's frustrating to see the parties have a complete role reversal... the democrats supporting the war and the republicans against it only because Obama is the one doing it. You know they'd love it if it was anybody else.

Gitmo: Yeah gitmo is still open and that's a huge cause for anger from the left. One of the cases where Obama is exactly like bush even though he campaigned differently.

You forget however all the very important social things that make your average democrat very very different from your average republican. That's where the key lies... THAT's where they're not all the same.

You need to reform your ****ing electoral system so that third parties have a chance to gain seats in Congress. How that is not a bigger issue in America is insane.

I completely agree man I couldn't have said it better.
I would perhaps vote if there a actual representation for my age group.

Because the media there do such a good job at pushing the left/right dichotomy into the public consciousness.

If I had to guess.

Same here in the UK, to be honest. It's been a "3 party system" between the Left Labour, Right Conservative and Apparently-Near-The-Middle Liberal Democrats since, like... ever. Even then, The Lib Dems never win, they're just always counted as a major party.

There should be more proportional representation, in my opinion.
