right, seeing as the last thread died, I might as well post my questions here.

1. Is it possible to use both an hard drive connected using SATA, and an hard drive connected using ATA100/133 in the same computer? Or will this generate some kind of conflict?

2. Do I need to install any kind of drivers to use SATA, or is it just a matter of plugging the drive in and then formatting it via the control panel?

So basicly; I've got an AD77 Infinity motherboard (made by DFI), with a 40gb hard drive connected to it using ATA100/133. Is it possible for me to go out and buy a 160gb SATA hard drive, and connect it to the SATA port on my motherboard, and still keep the old hard drive connected as well, or will this cause my computer to explode and create a dimensional rift in time and space?

If your motherboard supports SATA, it will run work just fine.

i have a couple eide hd's and a couple sata hd's in my pc, no problems for me.

The only thing that PROBABLY won't function is RAID. RAID on most motherboards really wants SATA rather then EIDE. but just for simple windows/linux drive use you should be fine.
