serious bug i think!!

before i start hi to everyone, a few things here have helped me with hl2 so far

ok here is the problem

on the black mesa east level when you go into the place, get scanned and meet Dr. Judith Mossman she takes you to an elevator and says she will take you down it, the elevator opens and she just stands there like a fool, even if i got into the elevator she still wont move, no buttons are pressable and to make things worse the main door is shut, so im stuck there, i tried starting from the end of the previous level but it still does the same thing

anyone else had this problem, i only got the game today played it until this point then this happens..

any help guys, i tried all the ai_resume stuff but no luck

It is a bit buggy in places like that. Reload previous to this point but do not get into the lift untill after she enters it and it should work.

This only happens in cracked warez versions.

we11er - No, it happens in legal versions also. You are thinking of character freeze, where non of the characters react.

If he had the cracked version freeze bug he would not have got past the first level.

I wouldn't call people morons if you don't have all the facts if I was you, it leaves you somewhat open...

Yeah I thought that after I posted, hence the edit. I don't use the word 'moron' very much at all, too extreme - but there's been loads of people on here who are blatently warezing.

Its all those idiots that have reduced us to needing to log on to Steam to play this game off-line. Because of a few that feel they must steal the game the majority of us have to suffer. Sorry to thread starter for going in another direction with your post. I can't stand pirates

Hi Ginger_bounce i just wanted to let you know that i have the same excat problem and YES I BOUGHT THE GAME!!
i have yet to get her to do anything right after she says she needs to take me to the doctor and she never moves. i have reloaded and reloaded. If i figure it out Ginger i will write something back here letting u know what i did to fix it.

As I said earlier, reload to where you are in the scanner room, then stay behind her at all times and it should be fine.

I did this, started messing around and realised 5 mins later that the grav gun she was holding had gone and she carried on as usual...

Hi ive had the same problem with Dr. Judith Mossman freezing before she gets into the elevator. I tired loading other saves before the problem and staying behind her the whole time but nothing. I did manage to fix it by quicksaving right after the bug happens and exiting then loading the quicksave i made. For some reason she continues into the elevator. Hope this helps other people.

i too have the same problem....i'm going nuts trying to reload the same stage over and over again...i have wasted my cash for buying a game that is not working...WTF

I Have Figured It Out!!

This only took me all day for something simple. heres what i did to fix my problem personally. First quit the game. 2nd start game back up. click on new game. then select the game level to where you are at or close to it. then when it starts up it worked fine. I also made sure after reading this forum that i stayed behind her the whole time and i had no more problems. i have found that if i just reloaded a quick load or a previous save game it would still be locked up.

I think i found a solution.

Someone mentioned on this forum that you could turn noclipping on and after which you can go down the elevator shaft and continue on. The problem is that the game doesnt get triggered so the characters youre to interact with don't work - therefore you cant continue.

However, if you turn noclipping back off while you're down there, the game does an autosave, or you can manually save it.

The first time i loaded it - it didnt work but i played around with it a little, loaded it af ew times, saved with clipping off while down there, saved with clipping off.

In any event, one of the times (im not sure under what exact circumstances as i was merely playing aroudn with it) i turned noclipping back on (after loading the game while being downstairs and characters not moving) and started flying up the elevator shaft, and low and behold she was in the elevator and telling me to hurry up and get in. I quickly turned no clipping back off and everything seems to be working okay so far.

FINALLY GOT IT

some dude in another forum suggested this, edit the autoexec.cfg file and add/modify this line

ai_norebuildgraph "0"

load the game and it works.. YAYYY


oh and i do have the full steam download version.

I found anthor way to fix it

This problem has now came up on me three times. Anthor way now that i have found to fix it is too load a map manually through the console this seems to work. Tho you might have to play through part of the map again its still better than reloading a whole new chapter. its alittle hard to figure out what map you are on too if you dont know but you can get all the maps listed by doing a google search and just print them out like i did.
