Server only files or "lite" version of HL2?

Is there a "lite" version of HL2 that I can load to my server, rather than the whole game?

oh- hi. first post. Usually a CoD and CoD UO admin/gamer, but with the way Infinity ward is hosing their fans at the IWN forums I'm thinking about getting a few of us into HL2 for a change of pace.

Run the HLDS update tool from your server. This will put all the necessary files into place.

There's some good guides over at www.srcds.com.

Thanks- I tried that but the only options I have from the menu are Half life, day of defeat, counterstrike (all HL 1 variations)

I've been reading the readme- is this tool to update an already existing full install of HL2?

I was looking for server only files, so I didn't have to run the full installation of HL2- all 5 cd's. I need to install to my D:\ drive, but HL2 will not allow me to install anywhere but C:

Sorry- it is finally working... I'm a n00b at command line switching. I finally re-read the directions and got it going.

It's starting to download the files and maps now.
