Server Player Count Problems?

This happened to me several times over the last couple days...

The main server list will say a server has, lets say, 20 players in it...but then when I get into the server, no one is there... I have my settings set to not show empty servers, and the list was just refreshed.... Anyone else get this problem recently?

Pretty sure it's a server mod. Just add good servers to your favourites list to avoid the problem.

stupid ass admins faking player numbers to attract players...the problem will likely be solved once Valve roll out the server ranking tool, assuming that it can differ fake players from real players.

Very interesting... I really admire Valve for their great ideas that have the player's experience in mind!

Is that feature on and otherwise working?
Is it something that can be turned off?
Why on earth would someone turn that feature on in the first place?
Maybe I haven't noticed, but how do you spot servers with these low scores?

it's not live yet.

the only ones that can turn it on/off is Valve.
