servers?

how come when i start a server on any online source game my friends cant find it and it doesnt show up under the friends list? does it only create it under LAN? if so why?

Theres probably many reasons, it could be very complicated down to having a router and port-forwarding and issues or you may not have typed in sv_lan 0 into the console when you start the server and waited for a steam message to show in the console to show it being connected. If that doesn't work do a search of the forums, there LOADS of threads on the issue, which many suggestions.

ok.. thanx, it was probably the sv_lan 0 thing cuz i never knew to do that.
