Setting up a lounge

Me and my friend are interested in setting up a lounge in our boring city, a place where all the cool highschool kids can chill and do whatever.

Right now, everyone in our city goes to Starbucks, practically every night. We think we can improve upon them by adding actual things to do, like pool, computer gaming, TV, and things that... kids our age do. A place to meet new people without it seeming too socially exclusive. We know a place called Insomniacs for late night hippie junkies that drink coffee and listen to live mic music, but the atmosphere was so... Hetairian.

What I'm wondering is what kind of things would you like to do at a place like that? Obviously LANing appeals to people who visit a gaming website, but what kinds of things would attract people who've never been there? We want to erk out the "nerds vs. cool kids" mantra that seems to go wherever we try to find new people. A place where even the fat loner with a pizza face might consider making his parents drop him off at.

tl;dr- What kind of things would you want to do at a lounge to meet new people and have some fun on a boring night?

Pool tables, arcade machines. Comfortable chairs arranged circularly, so people can meet and talk. Put some books or magazines or newspapers out to help facilitate communcation (talking about what someone else is reading is a good way to ease into conversation).

A bar. (I know you said highschoolers; it can be an oldschool soda fountain arrangement) Good music. Casual lighting. A big TV with a good DVD collection and a big, sectional couch.

There's a place near me that combines an internet cafe, gaming centre, lazer quest and bar/club. It used to be awesome till the Goths took over, now it's just a goth pit. Damn goths.

The only reason why I usually dislike such places, is when they try to "relate" to you.

Kind of hard to explain, but just don't put crude paintings of skateboarders with "COOL" or "TWISTED SICK" around them. Seriously.
