I'm setting up a Machinima team, my goal is this:
"To create a short sketch using the Source engine which as well as being amusing is a showcase of how good Machinima can be. Furthermore, to continue producing Machinima of a high standard and level of humour once the short sketch is completed."

What I have to offer:
  • A script (Currently being illustrated), as well as script writing ability
  • Several years experience editing video (including recording from the Source engine)
  • A set, so to speak - I can map
  • Distribution - I have a website and plenty of bandwidth
  • The hardware and software necessary to record speech at high quality
  • Possibly voice actors - I may be able to recruit from people here (university)
What I need:
  • Modellers
  • Texture artist
  • Animator
The reason I need so much is that I don't intend to re-use any existing content, for two reasons: 1) Intellectual property concerns and 2) It detracts from the experience if people think "hey, it's Barney!". Also, having the capability to produce our own content will facilitate creating more videos in future.

What I ask from you:
  • Dedication / Motivation - I'm not talking about putting 15 hours a day into this, I mean you must genuinely be interested in Machinima and comedy.
  • Good sense of humour - At the very least, be able to distinguish good and bad jokes.
If you believe you have anything to offer, please contact me via PM, or email me:

I'll keep this thread updated with recruitment details.

Lastly, I'd like to add that I am serious about this, and prepared to put in a lot of time - I'm at university studying Computer Science and my workload is pretty light so I have a lot of spare time.

What is the script like. I'm interested in this. Can you give us some more info on what this will be about?

It's set in the near future (or a slightly altered present) and follows an inept special forces team. If you are really interested then I can send you the script, but I don't really want to just post it here.

Following advice I've had from others I will also be creating an "alpha" version - using existing resources and my own sexy English voice, so I can give some idea of what it will be like.

Is it a carbon copy of P.A.N.I.C.S. (the special forces team in the F.E.A.R. machinima that won first prize for its script in this year's Mackies)

No. It has very little in common with P.A.N.I.C.S. (which I watched last night, incidentally - quite good, fairly amusing, nothing amazing technologically though).

Do you need 'actors' (players)? I can also write, ish, but I don't have much free time.

No, this machinima will not have any live acting in it, sorry. Pretty good for script writers at the moment as well, but thanks for the offer :)

i write and proof read professionaly for a magazine id be happy to read through your script and go through it with you. id also be happy to donate any prop models that i make that you may be able to use. im very into machinima projects ive written a couple but never got round to actualy making them.

If you proofread and write professionally, how come you ignore apostrophes, capitalised 'I's or the word 'professionally'? :p

:D

1. im terrible at checking my own writing
2. i write very quickly when i post and it isnt exactly exactly a very professional forum

edit: i also got some photographs published recently :D

hey yah guys i also wrighte for a magazine its a really professional magazine that writes about actors and movies but mostly actor's. just pm me or email whaterver id u want me to proofread yur stuff.

I hope to God that last post was meant to be ironic. Crackhead, donated props would be incredibly useful - after all, we're only going to use most props once so creating them specially would be overkill.

the magazine is called just right, jackass, anyway yeah ill contact you about the props.

edit: and theres alot more to proofreading than picking out spelling mistakes. infact i hardly ever find any spellign mistakes attal due to the spell check.

You think I don't know that? I proofread an entire mod website written by a Swedish bloke, ended up rewriting pretty much all of their publicity. I like proofreading :)

sorry zofrex if that sounded like it was aimed at you but it was actualy aimed at sixthree and sulkdodds

I guess I'm just a spelling/punctuation/capitalisation whore.

Back on topic... I've bought the super-advanced high quality external soundcard and bad-ass microphones I need for voice recording, and have started asking around for actors - a fair few people are interested, unfortunately mostly female, so this clip might involve the worlds first heavy-handed all-female special forces team.

Over the Christmas holidays I'm going to make the maps and make a start on the scenes ready for the content, and possibly build a new computer if I get enough money (mine is doing this crashing thing). Still need people, however!

i culd probaly do some modeling (but just simple stuff ATM)
and if ever have problems with ur mapping i can probaly help (since im a mapper)

i have a sens of humor: if u consider monty python and the hitchhikers guide fun

P.S i dont critisise my spelling :p

I think he meant like in the source engine, not live acting (real life acting) if that's what you meant

By "live acting" I mean people joining a server and running around and such - which I'm not doing.

Obviously I'm doing my own thing over here, but I wanted to step in and wish you the best of luck.
