gah I dont see how they can make a movie out of this one dimensional game ..but after seeing the trailer and these screens it looks like they were successful

Screens from Dead or Alive 4

How is it one dimensional? You've never even played it have you :|.

But the movie's gonna suck without question. The trailer is enough evidence of that.

yes I have ...kick, punch, mash button, repeat ad nauseum ...but then again I think all fighting games are one-dimensional ..my opinion

Blah. That first picture and that was enough for me.

Oh ok. I thought you were just trying to say DOA was. I agree.
DOA has 3 dimensions, all of them put to good use on showing off the female form :smoking:

You would be surprized how deep fighting games can be Stern.

You guys haven't seen the trailer? Its guaranteed to be a bag of shit.

I've tried, it just bogs down to repetative button mashing once you figure out what moves will be effective against your opponent

Heh, the one on the far left is out of Sin city, at least I think she is...

Ugh. Until they make a Beach Volleyball movie, I'm avoiding this like the plague.

There's absolutely no argument to suggest DOA is deep in any shape of form. It's a showcase for high polygon oversized breasts with some fighting mechanics thrown in.

DOA is pretty much recognized as a very good fighter, pretty ladies can take you only so far, certainly not as far as 4 sequels. Rememeber the same dev, that made ninja gaiden, makes DOA, and it introduced some nice features in the fighting genre.

And Stern, that is not true, about button bashing, you try that in tekken 5 or viritue fighter, you really won't get far, not even on very easy, in DOA you won't get far on normal with just button bashing. It's like saying that in fps games you only click with the mouse, which is not true, you don't just click, you don't just aim and shoot, there are many more aspects.

There are many aspects to fighting games, you need to know about juggles, about recovery times, about parying, bloccking, combo's. Hell in tekken there are like just 9 different ways to get up. And once you get up in tournaments you won't get far if you can't handle 3 yomi layers. Plus fighting games don't suffer that much form the slippery slope effect.
If you want to know more just read some of David Sirlins articles.
Yomi Layer 3
Slipery slope

And there are many more good articles not only about fighting games, about all kinds of stuff, balance, level design. But this guy was a Street Fighter champion so he knows what he is talking about.

lol those Yaomi things could go on for ever. It's like those comedy sketches

"What if he knows that I know that he knows that I know he knows"

One dimensional, woulden't not even exist?
and people 2D woulden't that not even exist either?
Wrong definition of 1D Steven.

Ugh, this reminds me of the Mortal Combat movie, they tried to convert it with actors but in the end it just looked odd

This looks worse than virtually any game to movie conversion I have ever seen. Worse than MK? Yup. Worse than SF? Yup. Worse than Double Dragon? Potentially. :)

You just can't make a good movie out of a fighting game. Frankly, I grew tired of the whole franchise at DOA2, so this really leaves me feeling meh.

while I agree fighting games can have some good points it still (imho) devolves into button mashing ..case in point ..I played DoA with a friend of mine and he kept kicking my ass round after round ..I asked him "how are you pulling off that move?" he said "dont know, I just keep mashing the buttons" ..everyone who's ever played any fighting game has the same sort of experience. Fighting games were made for button mashing because it encourages you to perform multiple button hits to perform complex moves

Didn't the original DOA ask you age and adjust the breast physics accordingly? I remember someone remarking that "99 year old men probably could not handle such things" when they screwed with the age parameter.

OMG... Those pictures make me want to tear out my brain. I can't even be comforted by the hotness factor. Those stupid poses, that vacuous look in their blank, "What the hell am I doing here?" eyes... See those guys on the stairs? Their not pretending to be dead or anything. They are crying in shame.

2nd from left in that picture, with blond hair

OMG you're right!

*actually considers going to see this movie

Heh, that womans career has suck even lower than I thought possible.

Hm. While I disagree about the comments on DOA's lack of depth, I do think this movie will be a steaming pile of shit.

They are not supposed to have swords standing pretty next to each other.

They should all be trying to kill each other with exploding backgrounds and falling off mountains and rooftops, stomping on faces and saying "Kore ga Mugen Tenshin ryu da!"

BAAAHAHAHAHA!!!

That made my day.

But yeah, this is going to be another "Doom without hell" experience.

when i saw the title of this thread, my first thought was "blonde supermodel"

Is that green horn coming out of that black guy's head or is he just happy to be in this movie?
