anyone have this game?

just picked it up this morning, i kept hearing about how fun and challenging rouge-likes can be so i figured $20 was a safe bet (i could all most sell it for that)

Anyways, think Zelda, but everything is turnbased. e.g. everytime you move a square or take an action, everything in the gameworld does the same.

oh, and the catch?

When you die, everything you have equiped, all your inventory/loot and all your money disappears, and your experience gets reset to level 1.

yeah, its that rough. Now, i'm not one for games with cheap deaths and insane penalties, but this game so far seems very deep and the dungeons are challenging and fun.

just the sheer level of various spells and items, not to mention what the monsters can do, is pretty mindboggling sometimes.

and i'm not talking out of my butt here, been playing the game for 5 hours straight.

anyways, back to dungeon crawling!

you guy's thoughts on Rougelikes and Shiren?

You should try NetHack. It's challenging and fun, and it has about a hundred million ways of making you die. Once you get used to the ASCII interface you can try out other roguelikes as well, such as ADOM and Incursion.

I love the Shiren game for the SNES (see below). I imagine it is quite similar.

I have been meaning to pick this one up for the DS for a while now. Maybe this will be a special treat for when I pick up Fable 2 tonight...:O

You should try NetHack.
I like Dungeon Hack myself. Not quite the same due to the viewpoint, but still challenging and awesome, esp. if you are as big an Eye of the Beholder fan as I am. :E
