It's Vista. (SP1)

Seriously... my display drivers failed recently. Forceware 175.16 for my 8800GT, so I re-downloaded the latest version and they won't complete the installation. I get nice display drivers, but no control panel? So I try to roll back to 175.16 again (instead of 175.19) and now the download won't complete the file or it comes up corrupted after downloading.
Not to mention World of Warcraft carks it.

Why have I done this, install Vista to only realize I lost half my back ups, and all my computer XP privileges.

Anyone else having the problems, or have a solution.
Don't say "GO TO XP NOOB" because I'm not doing it.

Try uninstalling the graphics drivers all together and then install the latest forceware?

So, that would be an nvidia problem, not a vista problem...

EDIT: Sorry, yeah, try what psycho said... Uninstall all NVIDIA stuff, reboot, re-install.

Uninstall the drivers and use driver cleaners to make sure everything's gone.

I rolled back with a driver wipe. All fine.

I've never had any problems like that with Vista. :|

The only problems I'm having is it freezing here and there thanks to my backup HDD dying. :(

Mmmm. Things aren't installing properly, lots of registry are pretty much gone. When I installed Assassins creed, it didn't even make itself visible in the start up menu. The codec isntallation is corrupted? The WoW installation is corrupted? Worked down stairs though...
I'm going to have reinstall Windows on the original cd, not the back up my dad handed me.

Otherwise I'm returning it, I can't put up with this bull shit. Never happened with XP...

...you were using a backup for Vista when you didn't have it before?

I don't control the technicalities of Computers in this household; we all run on a network so my dad ensures what goes around is what he's decided. He decided to put me on a back up, just like XP. I normally don't question his ways, otherwise I get a huge lecture about something I didn't even know existed D:
but Vista is out my money, he just inherited it for being pretty much himself.

OH WAIT I LOVE VISTA NOW

I installed it on a 80gb hard drive (5 years old)

go ahead, point the finger. I can take it like a man.
