Shooting through walls

Hi

In CS: Source, will it be possible to shoot through walls? I think that is just crap and stupid.
 
I hope it won't be possible !!! That's totally stupid about 1.6 .......

The new material system and the physics will change all this. I HOPE !!!
 
You should be able too shoot trough wood walls and crates but not 1meter concrete walls.
 
The crates will shatter if shot too much and stuff like that but I don't think you'll be able to shoot through walls.
 
I think a lot of cs fanboys will freak out when it's removed.
 
I hope they improve the whole system, so that you can shoot through certain materials, and that bullets can richochet differently off various surfaces adding a whole new dynamic.
 
Leave ricocheting bullets for CS2.. leave the rest as is in current CS!

I thought they said they just ported it to the new engine so I don't think one should expect real additions sa. these you mention. Would be nice though :)
 
The bullet penetration is what really makes CS. Imagine Aztec if you couldnt shoot through the double doors!!

No kidding, now imagine all the other games that don't let you shoot through doors, but don't have half the amount of players cs does.
 
Shure it is good, that bullets can penetrate wood - but those stonewalls should stop the bullets. I have been shot so many times while hiding behind ( what i thought ) cover.

All i want is the material system to be right...

gameplay ok - but Physics and Materials IMPROVED PLY !

What would that be like - eyecandy gfx, great physics, and i would be able to shoot through a 2m stone with a handgun !!!!!! ridiculous ..... :(

Logically 2m thick stone should stop a bullet BUT IT'S JUST SO MUCH DAMN GOD FUN HEADSHOTTING PEOPLE THROUGH ALL THE CONCRETE!!

Hate to disagree with you Fusion but this game isn't about realism or logic ;)

Hi, CS players in Japan. I am Nadomola from Korea who posted the impressions on CS:S at CSnation and Halflife2.net's forum. I just happened to find this site and would like to add a few things which I've never revealed at other sites for few CS fans in Japan.(No offence, but when I happened to play CS in Tokyo during my trip, I found only 6 playable Japanese servers and most of them were not even full. Maybe You guys prefer to stick on 5 vs 5 team matches, which, I think, in a way, better than playing on a pub server. or maybe I'm totally wrong. -_-)

Well anway, what I am about to tell you would be nothing really special or interesting so don't flame me even if it is.

Firstly, while I was free-looking a map,de_aztec - unlike halflife2.net stated, I did NOT(could not) play on de_dust2, which was a big disappointment actually. I just played on de_aztec - I found out that there is a small map under the base de_aztec map. This might be related to CS:S mapping. It looked like a miniature of the outer scenary, including pyramids, of the map. I personelly make maps for CS, for example de_korea, so that's why I am particulary interested in this discovery. Besides, I am looking forward to make maps for CS:S or HL2. Hehe.

Secondly, the balance of the weapons seems to need a big improvment. M4 seems to be way much better than AK in CS:S. People frequently complained the inaccuracy of AK, which, as you know, is a lovely weapon with a very accurate 1st shot in CS. More frankly, the spread of the bullets I should say. This, I suppose, so do the others, that this problem(or issue) shall be optimized with the release of final version of CS:S. In addition, when you zoom in with any weapon with a scope, it zooms soothly unlike old CS1.6. There are two phase on zooming in CS1.6 but in CS:S there's no cutting between 1st zooming and 2nd zooming.

Thirdly, I'd like to correct my statement on the missing weapon in the previous post at CSnation. Maybe at the time, when I wanted to buy a XM(automatic shotgun in my description), but maybe my cash would have been not enough to afford it. :p Lots of people insist that they saw a XM in the recent revealed clip in German, and I recalled the moment and remembered that I bought a machine gun one round before which might have hurt my financial situation. Well, maybe I'd be wrong again or not, but somehow we're pretty sure that we will see XM in CS:S in future, :) And, the physics thing, I should correct a word "pop up" to "be kicked away". So cans in CS:S don't SOAR UP to the sky when stepped on. It just moved through the ground. I hope I described it better. And, this is also not 100% clear, again sorry :p, when a barrel hit the water on de_aztec, it looked it floats. As I just said, I'm not sure. OMG, ok I'm not going to make more speculation.

Fourthly, this may sounds obvious, bullets can penatrate walls or doors. I'm not sure about how far they can penetrate or the unique surface of the wall(texture) affect the depth of penetration unlike CS.

Lastly, I think the playable CS:S was the older version of the CS:Source in the German footage. This is soley only MY idea so even if I'm wrong, don't flame me, again. At least if it's not older, perhaps they'd be different version.

That's pretty much of everything I know for now folks. Well, it'd look stupid that I could review something after playing it barely less than 10 minutes. But well people have curiosity and I'm just glad that I can help. Oh, I can speak a little Japanese but well it's not really impressive so I just wrote this in English, sorry for that.

Anyway, next time I visit Japan in future I hope I can find good servers with full of people playing CS:S or CS:1.5 or CS1.6 or CS:CZ.:D

No confiremd info ...... i guess
I dont think bullets will penetrate Iron doors and big walls of stone....that would be soooooo poor.

If i didnt't make it clear - thats one of the worst things about 1.6, from my pov at least.

It is basically a port yes, but if you compare levels nothing is the same... and what I mean by that is the map layouts are the same, but all the models are different, so it should work better with regards to bullets and materials hopefully.

They must keep it. It's an important aspect of the game.... it's one of the things that creates that "feeling" which u can't find in other games.
 
And what kind of feeling might that be? And what the f***(sry) is important about shooting through dam massive walls? Besides removing it?

no you cant shoot through walls also grenade damage does not go through walls either. Well at least in HL2 that is ;)

ok you know the e3 phystown demo? the building he first walks into and the combine guys shoot through the windows. Well i dropped a grenade outside those windows and stood right next to them and received 0 damage. I tested shooting extensivley and its a total no go with walls.


nadoloma u sure u could shoot through walls? an about the 'little level' u found on aztec. Its the new 3D sky boxes used in HL2/Source theres loiads of them in HL2 ur right its is the outdoor scenery. Its a cheap way of getting nice 3d backdrops that dont stress the game engine.

Don't play it if it bothers you that much.
 
I new this topic was gonna come up sooner or later....But yea or I kinda have mixed feelings on the wall thing.I mean it adds an edge in cs...but we will have to see what happens.
 
Imagine Assault if the CT's couldn't shoot through.. wellanything. Heh. half the kills are from shooting through walls. prabably more.
 
Alot of rifle rounds will shatter through bricks. Alot of surplus 7.62X39mm (ak47 ammo) for instance has a steel core and is capable of this. It's not going to happen every shot but it can happen. My 8mm mauser makes swiss cheese of 1/4 inch steel (surplus 8mm mauser has alot of steel in it). Now as for really thick walls it is pretty stupid.
 
Damage to walls should build up. Like if i empty 3 mags of an Ak47 into a brick wall, i should be able to dig a hole in it. I'm so gonna make a mod that does that. :)
 
You could ofcourse also blast it away using the RPG but nooo, you're gonna waste bullets :)
