I know this might sound very... Erm... "n00b"-ish, but I was wondering if newer DX9 graphics aren't compatible with certain motherboards? Do motherboards have a limit on that the same way they have a CPU speed limit?

Only really old mobos have this limit. For example those without an AGP port :)

But in theory, its very backward compatible (to about 500-700mhzers, then its not many AGP ports)... In practice however, you'll want a new mobo to go with a new card. Older (and not very old, like 10 months ago) VIA chips had major problems with the ATI cards, that the Nforce doesnt have.

Ok, cheers... My current mobo is an Asus with a VIA KT266 chipset. I'm screwed, aren't I?

No, looking at the VIA specs, it should in theory work. But as I said, it practice it can be differently. I would advise only using it on new mobos, but you could try... Someone in general just noted he had a 9800Pro working on a KT266a, but another noted problems on a KT266, so there you go...

i have a kt266 mobo and it works fine with my 9700pro...wich is not all that differant than a 9800pro.

Yeah but a 9700 pro is a DX9 card AND cheaper than a 9800, and those are two very important things. So cool cool cool.
Cheers!
