remember when you first encounter the chopper in water hazard?
when you go inside that large warehouse, did you notice that soldiers shotguns are all over, yet, when you kill them, the shotgun has disappeared?
has anyone else realized this?
also,where does the gun go?

i guess they dont want you to have the shotgun untill ravenholm like when your in the citadel all the guns vaporize when you kill the soilders

Um... if you kill a shotgun soldier, he will drop his shotgun.

There were shotgun soldiers?

That's a little different, that's a script which runs alongside altered gravity gun which is done intentionally to put emphasis on the use of that gun through the citadel. For example, if you wish to use that version of the GG you need to load that map first, then change it to another.

yeah, get up close and personal with every soldier to see they have,a few are packing shotguns

All the soldiers I saw there had MGs, and you could pick up the ammo from them...

I will take a screen tomorrow if possible,I am 99% sure I was getting hit by shottys, only a screen with everyone in that warehouse alive and noone has a shotgun(MUST be XBOX or 360 edition,to ensure nothing is coded)

Combine soldiers dont show up until after Ravenholm.

Id be highly surprised if they added extra NPCs in the x360 version

might have been metrocops,I was busy trying to find those shotguns...

They gave shotguns to metrocops!?

This made my day. Awesome.

I don't believe that Civil Protection are properly coded in the PC release to use the shotgun. I don't see why they would change it for the Xbox release and then add additional officers which were armed with shotguns.

Well actually all the humanoids are coded to use shotguns, the cops just lack the proper animations.

Give 'em the rebel or combine soldier animations and they'll be able to use it. Same with the AR2.

Until then, no animations = T pose and unability to use the gun.

MP7 makes as much sense as a shotgun. They're urban police units.

EDIT: Actually, I think a 4.7mm round would be poorly suited to fighting unarmoured rioters, as it would over penetrate the target. The high rof might make up for it, but I'd probably opt for the shotgun.

I have a little theory about that which may be complete nonsense . . .

The confiscation field was what initially changed the gravity gun into the super Grav Gun, so it would make sense that the gun still has the power of the confiscation field in it. So when you blast a Combine with the Super Grav Gun, the power also "confiscates" the weapon the Combine soldier was carrying.

Maybe far-fetched, but it makes me happy.:afro:

Actually they are shooting .357 magnums at you. When you walk over to them you pick it up.

No pics, no proof. I seriously can't remember it, and to busy in hellgate to play it again.

Actually, that's a good explanation.

I've simply considered that the weapons of combine in the citadels were either designed to self-destruct, or there was a "global" confiscation field present. Both ideas I now realise are a bit bizzare.

You can see the blue force field around the guns as they disappear, and that's what first made me think of it. I just figured that while obviously its scripted that way so you can only use the grav gun, Valve would have still had some logical explanation for why the guns were disappearing.

I don't even know which building you people are on about... and if i recall, there were no soldier within the game until after ravenholm when we go out of the city and were heading for the coast.

The shotgun had not been introduced this early in the game buddy.

methinks hectic glenn is genius but i dont think he likes me too much... its my location, isn't it?!?

Screenies or it didn't happen

I've got it on 360, but I was playing it a few weeks ago. I remember killing those guys with my pistol and wondering why they weren't giving me their ammo. It was because I was already loaded with magnum rounds.

Yep, that is where you get the magnum, for some reason.

Well you get it two minutes earlier when the soldiers rush the doorway of the room that you pick up the magnum in.

yeah i agree, its obvious that the weapons in the citadel go into the field i was just using as example :p
