I loved Halo, i have it on the PC, but im wondering whether to get an Xbox just before Halo 2 comes out. I am looking on Ebay, btw. What are your guys suggestions?

I think it's worth it. If there's a few other games on the system you'd like, then it's steal for the price :).

I got my XBox just for Halo - and wasn't dissapointed. That sounds like alot for one game, but when you consider how much many of us end up paying for our pcs it actually works out cheaper (and every other good game that comes out for the system is a bouns :))

2005...

But seriously, i have a PS2 with 2 games, 2 controllers and a DVD remote, all in excellent condition. If I do get it, I want to spend as less money as possible on Xbox and Halo 2... I'm just not sure if it's worth it.

Halo...infinitely disappointing. Just wait for Halo 2 to come out on pc, that way you get better graphics and all; the whole experience.

I was also thinking about getting an xbox with halo 2 in mind. I dunno though, there's something about controllers and FPS that don't agree with me.

Buy an Xbox, if not for Halo 2, then for the tons of other great games on it, and because of Xbox Live.

Halo is worth buying for Co-op alone (the single-player experience isnt that great if you're playing by yourself, but if its co-op, its alot better) But there are SO many other great games on Xbox

I'd just like to point out that XBox 2 and PS3 are coming out in 2005-2006, save your money for those ... :)

Don't listen to this guy!

Co-op is the most enjoyable aspect in Halo (by far) It is also considerably better on the XBox - I can't imagine the sequal being any different.

Yes, I would say it's worth it. I actually just bought a new XBOX for Halo 2 because my old one was barely functioning. It definitely wasn't running any games.

i wouldnt buy an XboX ONLY for halo2
its not worth it i think.

or maybe if u would play it with xbox live.

Should I buy an XBox for Halo 2?
I say no.
But since you loved Halo, he may just ignore me.
BTW: I don't think it is very smart to buy a system soley for one game.

Don't buy an xbox on ebay, or a refurbished one. You want to get the newest xbox with the newest cd drive, the older ones don't work as well and there are problems with them with newer games.

Buy an XBox. Get Halo 2. Start attending local lan events; you'll laugh your ass off, and have tons of ****ing fun. We run a lan event here in NC; infact, multiple ones. ...and the only thing you have to pay for, is some tip in for the Pizza/Food money. Beyond that, its bring your own TV and have fun! :D

No, I REPEAT DO NOT buy an XBox just for Halo 2. Its even more repetitive then the first, its also very boring. the MP is decent, but you also have to shell out 50 bucks for XBox Live (to be not worthy it since i can play Ps2 games free online as well as PC games again free). One of my cousins downloaded it, i went over there and played it... its ass, i got bored quickly. But i decided i'd give it another try it was ok cause i was in a diffrent section, but again for repetitive, and boring. My conclusion is Halo 2 is only good in small doses. Very small doses.

You can buy an XBox but do not buy it solely for Halo 2, it feels generic. the same levels, with the same guns, and same enemies as the first, you might have 1 or 2 new enemies, but nothing even close to getting excited about.

i just bought:

Xbox
RAF cable
Extra controller
burnout 3
fable

for £155 in town (not online). before i bought one i wasnt sure... i was tempted by ninja gainden, splinter cell, fable, halo2 and the rest- but it is a lot of money. but now i have bought it i wouldnt go back on my decision even if you payed me... i love my X-box, it is now my pride and joy :) im playing fable while writing this, its great. my advice: dont think about it, just buy it. you wont be disappointed.

*edit* DONT BUY AN XBOX ONLINE! for a start ebay will be unreliable, and secondly if it goes wrong youll want to be able to bring it back to the shop, not send it in a bubblewrap package all the way back to wherever the hell you bought it. but its your decision, i just prefer to have my things all new and shiny (and not delivered in the back of a lorry). :)

I am. I'll probably get Fable and Burnout 3 later on, but I think it's worth it just for Halo 2.

And it's probably a safe bet that the people who are bashing Halo 2 aren't fans of Halo, so even the remotely-stubborn ones are essentially incapable of enjoying it :D

I say wait for PC--i was thinking the same thing for a while--but thats 200 for a game. I think that 70% of the xbox games are on PS2/PC/ or GC

The rest are usually not worth much

Its kinda hard to think of XB only games that are worth 200$
The Gamecubs is differant--Viewtful Joe, Zelda, Metroid prime 1 and 2, SSBM, resident evil, and a ton others

i have a gamecube, Xbox and PS2 and im not really biased on any of them, but i must say that all the unique games on each console are excellent. on the PS2 you have metal gear solid, the GT series and a heap of others, the GC has metroid prime, zelda and mario and the XBOX has fable, splinter cell, ninja gaiden and a heap more.

If you asked me what console i prefered game-wise, i wouldnt be able to choose- they all have their classics and they all have loads. but if you asked me which i prefered out of the consoles themselves i would have to say the Xbox- after all, it has the best graphics, it runs all games with no slowdown, you dont need a memory card and you can copy all your music collection onto its hard drive. it truly is the best console. and now theyve got the new "s" controller that is nothing like a brick, and the price has dropped trumendously- i would say there has never been a better time to buy an Xbox.

No, you should buy an xbox for fable and dead or alive Ulti.

Halo 2 will be ok too, I guess.

Buy an N64 for Halo 2 ^_^. Don't ask why, im just bored and have to spam.

Oh, God.

Whatever you do, don't buy an S controller until you try it out at a friend's place, or at EB, because switching from the standard to S will feel REALLY weird. Going from standard to S in Halo makes it more difficult to aim, as the sensitivity for the control sticks is different. It makes it harder to do precise shots. The ABXY buttons are too far apart (I like being able to roll my thumb over the buttons rather than reaching for them :) ), and the Start, Back, black, and white buttons are in different places. And the triggers seem really twitchy, I remember many a time where I would kill my friend in Halo co-op with a grenade because i touched the left trigger.

I love the new xbox S controllers. I could not stand the steering wheel that was previously called the xbox "controller".

I agree, the controller-s was a blessing. Couldn't go back to the old one now.

I'd wait to buy the xbox2 thats coming out soon, I'm sure halo2 will work for it like playstation discs worked for playstation 2. buying an xbox right before the nextgen consoles come out is a waste of money.

there was some mention somewhere that Xbox2 may not be backwards compatible, though that may have changed, i swear i saw it somewhere though

Halo 2 is going to keep me preoccupied for about a week (when HL2 comes out)

Seriously - how the hell do people play FPS on consoles? The controller has to be the worst possible tool for aiming. It takes me 15 seconds just to get the crosshair into position. I just refuse to do it. It makes me cry. Any FPS worth playing will be ported to the pc because that's where it belongs.

Yeah definately. There are few console FPS that have been able to pull it off.

It just takes a little practise - of course, using a pad will never be as quick/easy as a mouse. But it is possible to be very accurate.

It may depend on which games you've grown up playing - but after years of GoldenEye/Perfect Dark, Halo and Timesplitters, using a pad in a FPS comes very naturally. I can aim almost as quickly and precisely as with a mouse - get 'twitch' headshots etc.

Alot also depends on how the game implements the controls - CS on the XBox being an example of how not to do it, Halo the opposite.

i love metroid prime- the lock on system on that is excellent, and where youre right in saying that theres not much skill in the aiming... it requires heaploads of skill to duck and dodge like a pro, as well as combining all te different attacks. Timesplitters is great too- theres so much to do!
