Should I buy my computer now?

Hey I was wondering if I should buy a new computer now or wait till fall.


The only games I am really looking forward to this year are Halflife2 Rome Total War LOTR: The battle for middle earth and Doom 3 and most of those games come out in the Fall I think..?

I have a pentium 4 1.7 768 mb ram radeon 9600 aiw


I guess that would be ok for the games but I am a graphics and frames per second fanatic I need the best lol.

Should I wait? What new hardware is coming out this fall.

wait, im waiting till 1 week before hl2 is released then upgrading my parts. i dont know what products are coming out but whether or not htey do, they will be ****ing expensive, i doubt youed have enough moeny to buy them, but the older cards prices will drop, wait till hl2 release and buy build new comp.

I would wait, once some of the new cards come out, you can get the cards that are out and top line now cheaper. With your setup there is no reason you can wait a little bit. At least in my opinion.

A week is a LITTLE extreme, and possibly cuts it a bit too short. I'd say once they announce it going gold, you'd be good to buy the hardware

If it was me, I would happily play HL2 with a P4 1.7ghz and a 9600.
The times when I would buy a new system would be:
When your PC doesn't play the games you want how you want.
When PCI Express cards/boards come out so future gfx cards will work in my board or that gfx card will work in future boards.
When HL2 (or the game of your choice) comes out.

that preety much sums up whay im waiting. god i cant belive how much graphics im goona have on my x800xt and 3.0 hyperx 2-3-2-6. yup, life is goona be good.

well Rome Total War just passed halflife2 on my most anticipated games of this year but thats not due out till late fall and HL2 SHOULD be here around summer

its like making descisions out of anger, u cant make hte right one, i cant belvie like RTW so much ur blinded by how much it sucksa, all the soldiers are the same person, its graphics are on old style graphics. hl2 is on new style, just 1 of the many aspecs how hl2 is better than RTw.

Regardless, it will be a great time for PC gaming in the next year or two. Who cares if you want a RTW over HL2. Both games will be awesome.

No offence..but your an IDIOT. How can you say the graphics are OLD STYLE GRAPHICS? These graphics are revolutionizing RTS/turn based games. Is HL2 no not really...a year or 2 ago yea maybe but not now. I didnt say i wont buy hl2/it wont be a great game. I am just looking forward to RTW a lot more now.

I waited till the week before HL2 came out to upgrade... I upgraded, and then Valve decided that HL2 was nowhere near ready and it would be delayed indefinately.

I recommend you wait till Half-Life 2 goes GOLD before buying a new PC... and definately look into a 64-bit machine with a PCI-X graphics interface to ensure it wont go obsolete within the following month.
