remember the flashing website he put on for a laugh one day that was really funny to most people well it wasnt funny for me as i am epilectic and i took a seizure that day i could sue the balls of him but then a brilliant mod would go to waste. post on the poll on what i should do

If you are epileptic, why are you even being close to the computer?

Did you have a seizure because of the link he posted, or during that day and it being unrelated?

i have a special computer that runs all programs in epilecitc mode so all flashing light and things are cut to a safe level for me but this didnt work in school unfortuntily :( no his whole website was a really fast flashing sequence

I hear the flashing light in prodigy, CT spawn CS:S gives people seizures. Sue valve , they have the money for a big payout!

Then why did you have a seizure if you computer is so special? and i really doubt you would be able to sue him.

Wait until v8 is realesed.

Edit:
Then why did you have a seizure if you computer is so special?
because it was on a school computer.

Well you weren't on your home pc that has the protection, so you knew that on a school computer without the protection you could have go an attack from anything. It's not Garry's fault is it? You must be more careful with the sites you visit when not using your home computer knowing the risk. Be more responsible. I don't know Garry or his site well, i'm just saying you made the mistake.

I can't even tell if you're serious or not as this really isn't something you should be asking an online forum community, but if you are then it's clearly you're fault that you used a school computer knowing that it didn't run in epileptic mode.

You can't sue him. Its your responsibility to take caution to the things that you view that may or may not cause you to go into shock. If you look in your computer manual(not your special computer manual, the one at school you were looking at), in the first couple pages it will undoubtedly caution you about the possibilities of epileptic seizures if you suffer from the condition.

And I'm sorry you do... but you can't sue him.

Since you were aware of your condition and what causes it, and you were on a computer that you knew didn't offer you protection you might need then I really don't think you have any legal justification in suing him.

But hey, what do I know. If people can get away with suing McDonald's for making them fat I suppose anything goes these days. Although I'm sure everyone here would hate you for exploiting exactly what's wrong with this ****ing sue happy country.

You can try but it wouldn't go very far at all. This is the internet, if you have epileptic fits from strobe effects, then infront of a monitor isnt the best place to be. You're powerless to have any effect on garry newman at all.

Thats like fat people suing fast food chains cause they piled on the pounds.

You can't hold someone else responsible if you yourself didn't take precautions, as you say, you used another computer to view it.. at school no less (why were you looking at games sites at school when you should be studying?)

really, they'd laugh you out of court.. after taking all your money and making you look really stupid.

But please go ahead and try.. just for shits n giggles :)

they tried it - in america of course, the only country stupid AND fat enough:rolleyes:

Damn cant use IMG tags for a flashing gif...
It'd be amusing too see you sue though. I mean, in this day and age you'd probably win.

If it was on a school computer then you need to sue them for not providing you with the specialised equipment to avoid such epileptic fits caused by flashes.

Or maybe you weren't supposed to be on that website at school, so they'd just say to you "It's your fault!". I'm steering towards that opinion at the moment, I'm afraid :(

Hmmm..... maybe i should sue Valve for CT spawn fits, Garry for no warning that the site has strobe effects, and my school for not providing me with special equiptment LOTS OF MUNI FOR ME if i win all cases and i was meant to be on that site it was a project on your favourite game but i decided to put a chapter for Gmod in it

Your case is going to look really solid when it shows that you had to ask an internet forum on what to do.

well can i have permission to use this thread as evidence? :stare:

And with that said, I really wish you could sue people for being ignorant. But instead of being awarded money, you get to hit them over the head with a stick.

Evidence that you are moron.

I hate people that think they can go through life by winning legal battles, A girl did that at the place I used to work at, made me lose my job.

Only in America are people this stupid.

Seriously, YOU viewed something on a COMPUTER that MIGHT contain something that flashes, how is it someone elses fault?

calm down, it's called dry humor, perhaps one day it'll make sense over there:thumbs:

No, don't sue him.

If you're epileptic, you should know better than to watch flash animations which are notoriously, gasp, "flashy".

COurse, maybe you should, since Garry's an asswipe and he deserves it, godly coding aside.

Sue him!

Sue him for all he's worth!

Harij I respect you a great deal but that's utter f*cking bollocks, verging on offensive. I'm epileptic and spend faaar too much time at my PC. You CAN play computer games if you're epileptic - you don't instantly run the risk of a seizure. It might make it more likely, however. That doesn't mean you SHOULDN'T play computer games.
Christ; most of the fun things in life run the risk of giving epileptics seizures, but I'll be f*cked if I'm gonna stop.

Solid_Snake091, I imagine few people on this forum apart from myself (as an epileptic) will understand the discomfort of such a seizure as you do.

However I would strongly advise AGAINST you pursuing legal action. Perhaps partly because it would take money away from a fun part of the gaming community, but mainly because, as far as I understand it, it would do little good. If you were in work and this seizure meant that you lost your job or injured yourself in such a way that it meant you would lose earnings, then I could see your justification.

As it is, I would ask you not to sue him purely on moral grounds - suing him won't change the seizure you had and taking money from him in that fashion verges on selfish.
I really can't stress enough that I am NOT calling you selfish. Far from it; I see the temptation, I just don't see what good it would do.

I think what you SHOULD do is contact Garry and tell him that this has happened. Perhaps he will decide that it would only be fair to take that element of his website down.

Yes, he should have taken it into consideration but really, You should be more careful about that if you have epilepsy. Also sorry to hear that happened.
