So with 1.38 hours to go, do you believe the shuttle will fly? or plummet to the ground, do a backflip and chase after the NASA administrator and explode on impact?

From what I know, they haven't replaced the faulty equipment (that is if it is faulty of sabotaged)

How well do you think this mission will be?

Why are we going into space anyway right now? I mean, sattelites are about all I really care for having a program for.

The shuttles and saterllites are a smoke screen. The majority of NASA funding goes into secretive organisations

i hope it goes fine. They've coated that huge penis shaped fuel pod in extra foam apparently. Safe as houses

(that was not an innuendo for what me and Rakurai did last night ;))

My butt still hurts Glenn. (Not from gayness you perverts just from the penis shaped fuel pod)

Well, I hope it goes well, when those things blow up it's some crazy shiznat.

Back in I think 2000/01 I was in Florida, they were doing a launch the day before we left. Hundreds of cars all parked on some field ready to watch looking down at Cape Something or other. Cancelled. Bastards. We left the next morning. :hmph:

Hehehe another referance to last night, thats all i'm saying.

Is this shuttle launch broadcast on the internet, i think im too lazy to get up and find a tv.

The problem they are having is incredibly minor. Its a fuel gauge that tells them how much is left in the external tank. They have 4 of these sensors and they only need 2 of them for a launch (they are all back-ups of each other) and they currently have three working. The shuttle is loaded with backup systems like that. It even has multiple onboard computers working independant of each other to do the exact same calculations so that even if 2 fail the shuttle can still do everything perfectly fine.

They're probably just trying to reach six sigma before they allow launch.

Cape Canaveral. I lived in Florida for two years (just recently moved back to Texas for med school). i really really wanted to see a launch. Just disappointed that I missed seeing it in florida by two months.

Where can I watch the video of the Columbia catastrophe?

it will go fine i am hoping.

im pretty nervous for those astronauts tho...

1 minute left!

Bizarre to think that those astronauts are in space now, amazing to watch it!

Damn, RealPlayer had some problems with loading the stream so I started watching a few seconds after the start. The shuttle was still close though, nice view anyway :)

Nice view of the Earth from the camera on the shuttle too, I thought there would be a bigger delay because of the distance

Ah that was good. Nice to have some good news for once.

Get back on topic guys.
i aint seen Kore in ages henceforth i can derail this thread with my mental abilities when i please, add me to msn Kore we need to find a way to actually get stinger back :P

Heres my attempt to stay on topic though.

Who thinks when the shuttle comes back in it will disintergrate again? Has NASA done enough this time!? oh noes!

stinger's in for it! :P lolol

glen i added ya. anyway as we must talk on topic..

u think the shuttle will land safely?

I think everything will go fine unless the ruskies or china shoot it down, but thats a .000000001 % chance.

I heard that North Korea had a probe in space that will catch the shuttle once it's in orbit, and also catch the Russians shuttles, to provoke World War 3...you know, like on "The Spy who loved me"

I think everything will go fine unless the ruskies or china shoot it down, but thats a .000000001 % chance.
A grave underestimation.
