...and if you don't pay attention, I'll gouge out your eyes![br]Life used to be a lot simpler. Whereas these days we demand complex action, engaging plots, fully modelled physics and graphics that would stun an ox, the rose-tinted games of the past required only skill and dexterity. Gordon Freeman would have just jumped on Breen's head and have done with it.[br]Antfarm: Source is "a patchset for Half-Life 2 that allows mod-makers to create a multi-player two-dimensional platformer" and Antfarm: Spheres is the first actual game built on that technology - a manic team-based two-dimensional slaughterhouse where the only weapon available is a gravity gun, and lots of Combine energy balls.

[br]The screenshots may not look stunningly impressive but who cares - it's so cool! You can watch a video of Spheres in action, and download the beta at the Antfarm website. Coders should find this particularly interesting, considering the possibilties - from total conversions of old mario games to top-down Alien Breed style shooters.

Also, this is slightly old.

I don't care!

NINJA SCROLL! TO THE SIDE!

From the looks of it, this mod deserves much praise not only for making a sidecrolling Source, but for sharing their work with others.

This is perhaps the best thing the modding community has done so far. I'm going to support the guy in whatever ways I can.

Riomhaire - it's not a mod, but a framework. It's so anyone can make a sidescroller if they want to, and they have the beginnings done for them.

This is what modding SHOULD be. It harkens back to the original days.

can you say HL2DM Clone?
I'm fairly certain HL2DM is in first-person.

And 3D.

And not a coding platform for creating side-scrolling Source games.

And nothing like this.

D:

HL2DM rip-off? Huh? What?

Looks very clever. I'm reminded of a similar project for the original HL (albeit one that wasn't so public).

My first thought? Metal Slug-inspired shooter. Old style beat-em-ups. Endless possibilities: genius!

metal lsug mod was the first thing that came to my mind too! :)

oh yeah! streets of rage source!

anyhoo this mod is an obvious rip off of hl2DM just like Hl2DM is an obvious rip off of pong.

That is probably the funniest quote i have heard in a while.. thanks for that ;)

Indeed, like you said, HL2DM wasn't exactly original in the first place.

If you couldn't tell the difference, the first one is HL2DM, and the second is Pong. The fact is, they both have graphics, and they're both a game of competition against other players.

Anyways, I would freak for a MegaMan or Castlevania mod for this.

****ing sweet.

With HL2's physics... would a source version of N be possible?!

N! <3

I used to come to the computer lab and play it, all my friends would be like = O.

Awww... I was really hoping for Codename Gordon: Source.... now that would be cool.

Is it possible to contoll the crosshair with the mouse, (like soldat/ Rag doll Kung Fu)? Or does it need some more modding? It would so much simpler to aim with your mouse.

Looking foreward to see some great games blossom out of this one. :imu:

Needs more modding to do crosshair aiming. But I can imagine it being quite easy, if you read the code that's already provided.
