Sights to see?? - SA, AUS, NZ

Hey there...My mates and i are planning a trip in the Summer of 2006 to South Africa, Australia and New Zealand and we need some info...

What are good tourist sites/must see things?
Good places for night-life
Places to AVOID at all costs
Cheap places to stay (names of hostels/hotels/B&Bs greatly appreciated)

Rotorua has tons of cool touristy crap to do, once you get over the smell (sulphur). If you feel like a tramp, go over mount Tongiriro. It'll take it out of you, and last the better part of a day (more if you get lost... err...), but it's pretty amazing.

Come to brisbane .. it has 4 good theme parks, the best beaches and other misc. attractions.

I'm surprised nobody has suggested all the LotR locations in NZ. I'd love to visit those, even though plenty of it was CG it would still be cool to visit the locations.

Not really, there's tours and info on the net on where to find the better known locations, as I say much of it was CG and compositions OBVIOUSLY but a lot of it did exist as real locations.

In Australia, stay away from the towns Redfern and Cabramatta.

I suggest Brisbane as well. Or Surfers Paradise. There's really nice beaches and kick arse theme parks.

Just checking at the moment to see where is good to go and then trying to plan something around that...Even flights are goin to cost me a fortune (im from Ireland so its a long expensive trip) so it needs to be planned (loosely) well.

I would like to visit as many places as i can (we think we are doing a month in each country but thats just a temp plan for now.).
