Sigs.......

Ok one thing id realy like to see is sig imgs.
I think they add a lot of life to a forum,and let a of people show of thier art work.The only reason I see for not putting it in would be the 56kers.

But even when i had 56k it wasnt that bad as long as you had some kind of size limit.Also im sure thiers a script or somthing that allows forum users to turn of sig imgs.If not im sure you could find some one too make somthing up.

For the moment we'll keep it how it is.

Whereas a lot of members would love the concept of IMG sigs, unfortunately there seems to be an equal number of members that would hate it.

To verify this, what I'll do is add a poll to this thread. Just so we can see other people's views. It may go either way, but if it does go in your favour we'll at least consider the proposal.

There's so much potential for inappropriate/offensive material, beyond the harm to 56K'ers. It doesn't personally bother me that much, but people are never subtle with their image sigs, they always go for the GIANT NEON SIGN style, which is irritating and eye-soring.

they can always put a size limit on the imgs you can add.For instance it can be biger then 600x200.I think thats a prity good size that everybody can be happy with.....

I dont like signature pictures at all. I want to read the post not look at the same oversized neon banner post after post. Doesnt add anything to the forums... only slows them down.

Ewwwwwwwwwwww, sigs will be something we'll look at every so often but for the moment the concensus is no I'm afraid. Although I'm sure if there enough votes we'd reconsider but I think the over riding concerns have been raised by pen and chris

thats why i said make it so users can disable if they want to see sig images or not.I mean if u add this i see no reason why not to allow sigs.For those people that dont like sigs and just wana read or are 56k can just turn it off in options.And for those that do want it ,they can enable it.I think it should be user prefernce ............... :|

I voted Yes if it's down to user preference. However, us as moderators should be free to edit or remove any sigs we please.

I personally don't like long signatures/signatures with pics. To me they clutter the page and grabs attention away from the thread.

Just to toss in a tidbit of info, you can already disable sig and avatar viewing in your CP. No extra coding would be needed .

Well Then you would need some coding if u wanted to see text but no image ,for instance where an image would be just have (IMG-Imgname).And you would keep people like Sprafa that like the plain look and people like me that like IMGs happy.

Thats great so all you would have to do i select no images in sig.....Sounds like a win win situation to me...

I'm on 56k and I've no problems with forums using signature images as long as the forum applies a size and width limit to the banner. I.E 400 x 75 pixels and a size of about 60kb.

It seems as thought some of us cant vote as its been closed..

I for one am a big fan of images and i mean really big fan this forum is very limited what keeps me coming here is the very pollite attitude and lots of info on a game i like and they over all style of the forum is nicly done.

But even my avatar is limited to a 50x50 and small kb size so i dont use my animation shop that i paid good money for and do nothing with as far as this forum goes i do have other forums mostly anime forums i can get creative.

Like someone mentioned if each member can edit his own control panel for preferances why should we be limited /?

My vote is yes i would like banner sigs. Sorry if it offends but i usually have good taste in my own stuff and i like to see stuff like that i still think avatars should get at least 2 or 3 MB's so i can really go wild lol hehe

I have cable connection lots of ram and good PC so i dont see why the world should be holding back especially when there is a preferance control panel for ppl who dont My 2 cents .....

The problem with that option is that it completely turns signatures off.

There's a few different types of people at the moment.

Those who like text only.
Those who can do without sigs completely.
Those who like images only.
Those who like text and images.

Turning that option on/off would show/hide all signature content. Something that a lot of people won't be keen on. The poll had a time limit on so it closed automatically.

Ok that makes a bit more scense that some like hand written sigs over pic sigs and no feature to distinguish the 2. think i spelt that wrong oh well anyways thanks for mentioning the poll has a time limit i forgot about that and thought it got closed as a way to end the topic at hand.

Still i like pictures But it wont stop me from coming here as the site does have purpose.

There may be a way to code in a feature whereas you can specify if you want text only or images only etc. etc. If so we may still look into it but we have other priorities first of all to improve things around here.

sigs are great id love to have the ZE style sigs back.. no size limit just keep it at a resonable size... thare would be porn and advertiseing restrictions... ect...
