Silent Hill Movie vs Games Storyline

Where do you guys think the movie falls in terms of the game's storyline?

I've played through 1-3 and I'm working on 4 now. I thought the movie was, more or less, a combo of both Silent Hills 1 and 2. I have to see it again because I want to try to peice it together with the game a bit more. Maybe I have to play through 1 again also, but after I beat 4.

Anyways...thoughts, opinions??? Someone put me on the right path here.

It was mostly the story of Silent Hill 1 with a bit of demons from silent hill 2. They left out a lot of stuff from the first game, so if people really want to understand, they must play the first game. The movie leaves an opening to a sequal...which if done correctly could surpass the first silent hill movie.

It diverges quite a bit, the core elements are there such as Alessa but the reasoning behind why Silent Hill is like it is was altered. Dahlia is also plays a good character which I thought was a bit of a mistake.

I only played about half-way through SH1, but thats what I assume Avary got most of the plot from. And added the Pyramid Head from SH2 because its bad ass.

Thanks guys. I just fired up SH1 a little bit ago and saw where majority of the plot came from. The intro to the game was about all I needed to see....I plan to play through it again now.

Probobly should have just fired the game up before I started a thread, but oh well. Thanks again.
