Silly Plot Trip up?

Its commonly understood that Barney in HL2 is the Barney you pass on the train at the beginning of the original. However that Barney (incase you aint played blueshift) never speaks to gordon and the only time he spots him is the time when he watches him get dragged passed by the guard on the way to the compactor.

Now...

In HL2 Barney says "About the beer I owed yer!"... but he never owed Gordon a Beer... unless he met Gordon at some point in between

Yeah ok its a silly topic but I noticed it did any of you guys?

well one of the deafult saying of the barneys before the resonance cascade was 'hey catch me later ill buy you a beer!' so obviously all the barneys combined into a uber barney with the collective barney knowlegde and power level!

plot wise ignore Op4 and Blue shift. there not made by valve and they dont except them as there children,, just some dirty spawn created by some money grabbing publisher

Warlock produces a convincing argument... except for the fact the manual states that its gordon's first day IIRC

oh and Op4 and Blueshift although created by a blood sucking crap dev house were made under the supervision of Valve and the story ... again IIRC was developed to fit into the HL universe

My understanding was that "Barney" was never a character in HL. If memory serves me well, models for the security guards in HL were called barny1, barny2 etc..

If i remember correctly Barney the distinct character first featured in Opposing Force which of course came before Blue Shift. I believe he appears several times throughout the OP game. I dont think you play Barney in Blue Shift.


Barney in HL2 is one of the security guards he met at Black Mesa simple as that. Don't complicate things by trying to match the EXACT game eperiences with the inferred events in HL2.

Clearly if when YOU played HL you made Gordon kill every scientist he saw it doesn't quite fit in with the story of HL2.
