Here is something that will jog your mind...

It has always baffled me as to why copper was the number one chosen form for a PC heatsink. Although it has been proven to have very high levels of conductivity, for both heat and energy, silver still surpasses it both electrically and thermally.

Silver Fact

Although more expensive than copper, it can conduct far better. So why not use silver? It could cut down on size considerably...

Another interesting fact comes from a chemical engineering lab, where a company called Quallion LLC used silicon polymers to create a metal with an extraordinary conductivity.

Silicon Polymer

Silicon polymers were first studied by the organosilicon research group at the University of Wisconsin-Madison under the leadership of Professor Robert West. For the past few years, Argonne and the University of Wisconsin, working with Quallion, have actively pursued this chemistry and developed a new class of polymer electrolytes, made largely of silicon-oxygen chains, that exhibit extraordinary conductivity and safety properties. This material has the highest conductivity ever reported for any polymer electrolyte and is non-flammable," said Argonne's Khalil Amine, co-inventor of the battery chemistry. "It is leading-edge battery chemistry that has enabled miniaturized batteries with the long lifetimes needed for medical devices.

Silver?

Think about it. It solely is about price. It's like saying they should make heatsinks out of gold. It's just too expensive. WAY too expensive. Copper is much cheaper. They used to make pennies out of it. :)

Interesting though :D.

hmmm.....yeah after an in depth search, I found that pure silver is the highest conductor. And can be priced over $50 an ounce!

So that would make -this zalman cooler- what....$1,550? Roughly....

HA! That's great......I wonder how much they sell that other silicon crap for? It's probabaly priced like caviar!

Hmmm.....would be nice though.....

Only today! Computer cooling stuff for rich people. :p

1. The price...
2. It wouldn't make major difference, especially to pay any kind of premium for it.

From what we know about alumnium and copper, while copper conducts a lot better it also retains the heat after you shut your PC off longer which isnt good.
Alumnium gets rid of heat quick (to air) but doesn't heat up well.
So if that is even more true with silver...it might be considerably worse than copper considering that. Just a thought.
