I guess there's a big Simpsons movie sneak peek today. Wonder what it's going to show and how good it's going to be.

Figuratively thinking, if the Simpsons can dish out top notch quality nearly every single episode, the Movie should put a w00t in your pants.

I don't see the movie doing well at all, The Simpsons is garbage now... and has been for the past few years now.

Ulgh, I hate to agree even partially but it is true. The older episodes are Classic and I credit the birth of Family Guy to the Simpsons, but yes, you are right. It feels like the Simpsons have abandoned their regular comedy for a political agenda :(

Hopefully we can avoid that in the Movie, I still think the movie will do well.

You just totally reversed what you said in the first post, but whatever.

I haven't watched a new Simpsons episode in a year or two. Not that I think the new seasons are utter trash, they still have a few really great episodes, but yeah, I just never care enough too. I've watched just about every episode from the first Eight Seasons multiple times though, so yeah.

Political agenda?? I watched a few new ones the other and i saw nothing of the like. I also didn't laugh very much either.

Political agenda? The Simpsons basically copies off Family Guy now, which basically copied off the Simpsons :|.

No one sings or dances about The Simpsons any more, it's easy viewing and not particularly funny. Saying that, I wouldn't call it bad names, over the years it has made me laugh alot, I just don't think a film has any point now, there is no Simpsons fever or hype where people would think 'shit I gotta see this'.

Haven't seen a simpsons episode in a looong time now. Probably about 2 years.
I just didn't laugh at them anymore. Haven't heard anything good about any of the new series' from friends or the internet. They should let the Simpsons die.

Doubt I'll see the movie unless it turns out to be good.

I agree with the majority here. The Simpons is so stale and stagnant now it's like the writers have exhausted every single possible storyline - to such an extent that the new ones are so completely random and stupid, you'd get more satisfaction from watching paint dry.

They should have cancelled it long ago. I was a huge fan, and it had lots of great episodes in its day, but keeping it going just did it no favours at all. The person at Fox who decided to axe Futurama but continue the Simpsons really needs shooting.

I also agree i used to love watching the Simpsons the older episodes were gold but the majority of the newer one are garbage i don't find them funny instead i find them painfull to watch it but i would still watch the movie.

I'm sure it was the same guy who decided to schedule Futurama directly after Sunday Night NFL, when those games ALWAYS ran 10-20 minutes over-schedule. -_-

Have The Simpsons gone so low as to use messy interchangable jokes yet?

No. I will absolutely agree that The Simpsons is far, far from it's past glory in seasons 2-8 and possibly 9, but it is not anywhere near being as cheap as FG. The Simpsons got worn out around season 10-12; Family guy by season 3.
But The Simpsons are still funny, but it's lost the other part, the intelligence, the integrity of the characters and the reality. (No-one's died yet and come back to life, but the characters don't feel real anymore.)
I suggest they cancel the Simpsons after the movie and Matt Groening start another show. If only Futurama didn't get cancelled... :(

I heard they got most of the writers from the glory years to colaborate on this movie's script. The Simpsons is still pretty good TV, but it appears that they've been targetting a younger and younger audience as the years have gone on. It's purely a kids show now, and I find myself tuning in every now and then only because the classic episodes were some of the best things to ever come onto TV --and the hope that there will be another gem(s) among the current episodes. Unfortunately, that hasn't happened in a long while. :(

It seems like this movie might be the last hurrah for the Simpsons. My only fear is that if the Simpsons finally does get the axe, that the current Simpsons writers will find their way onto the Futurama writing team. Futurama is due to make a comeback (the 12 episodes already in production suggests that), but if the Simpsons writing staff transfers to Futurama, I fear they'll pollute the product and destroy the show in a way that has happened to Family Guy recently.

Still, there's plenty of reason to be optimistic about the Simpsons movie.
