well I have never played, and never will play TSO I think this is sad.. shouldent they be able to say anything as long as it's not obscene blasphemous or explicit on an mmo journal if they are paying every fsecking month... bleh. I hope corporations /devs dont start doing this for all next gen mmorgps.. limiting the amount of actual freedom you can have in what is advertised as a go anywhere do anything type game seems wrong.. it's funny though because it's like freedom of speech inside a corporation runned game .. it's like they would need a virtual constitution or somthing... anyways this made me really angry at maxis... seems rather totalatarian of them.. and just plain wrong

Well it sounds more like they are having problems with a less than savory site. Which even I know has been known to make the odd comment that would one day land them in trouble. And of course Maxis has always wanted to try to appeal to the greater audience, young and small without limiting people of a certain age too much. And if a site is also banging on (pardon the pun) about sad people having relationships in TSO rather than other things. Then Maxis is within its right to do that. It is their software afterall.

And if you don't like it, you can always go elsewhere, though I think you'll find many decent communities have a low tolerance for abusive behavior or innapropriate language.

In other news the CEO of Maxis has been likened to Stalin, purging anyone who tries to disagree and even those that simply fail in a task. It seems the dictator has been trying to rule the online world of "The Sims Online" through fear.

I once thought about playing TSO, but then, thought 'nahh'. Possibly because the larger audience of the Sims games were 10 year olds who never played the original games without cheating, and would take such views of 'I need unlimited money!' along with them to the online world.

I played in the beta from the sims online. It was sort of fun but to actually get anywhere it would have been too time consuming.

Well, there are a lot of crazy people bent on messing up the online sims.
I remember reading something about a fictional Sim prostitute who sells cybersex through a paypal account or something, and built a brothel in the game. Eugh.

Maxis should really fix those sorts of things, rather than just shut down the people who are reporting them.

Sorry but i found that brothel thing really funny...Just goes to show that the human spirit will prevail no matter what you do obviously I'm laughing in a disgusted sort of way . But really its quite a serious matter actually when you think about it, I mean if brothels pop up inside a "childrens" (and i use that term loosely) game then what hope can people have at combating things like that in real life. I bet people have made crime syndicates and stuff in there too....Although how that would work I'm not sure.
