"Let me read a letter I recently recieved, 'Dear Dr. Breen, why has the Interim government seen fit to insert an oppressive administration in the place of a progressed democracy?. What has happened to the concept of freedom, seemingly washed away by the tide of oppression?. When will our benefactors realize that the greatest gift of our humanity is giving the individual freedom of choice. What ever happened to the concept of individuality, now replaced with communial depression and lack of will?. These questions I propose to you, but the only answer I expect is one of deception and empathy for our benefactors, so rather, I propose this query to the citizens of City 17. But, since your government has suppressed its citizens, as well as the guard, what answer can I expect of them but also one of deception?'.
Sincerely, A Patron of Humanity.
Dr. Breen's reply: Well, it seems not only do you possess a convulted sense of self, patron, but you also lack empathy for your fellow citizens. This "oppression" as you like to refer to it, is nothing more than a linear guiding by our benefactors to humanity's evolution. It is easy for the simple-minded to misinterpret this guiding as a forced will upon mankind. I'm not quite sure what you had hoped to achieve with this letter, perhaps spark a revelation in the hearts of man, yet their hearts are focused on the reward of obedience, which is ever-lasting life and an evolved consciousness. If that, in itself, is oppression, then I would not want to be liberated. I hope the citizens of City 17 share my thoughts, for choosing your words as enlightment would take them down the dark path of human atrophy. So, do yourself a favor patron, wallow in your liberation, and be sure to relay to the rest of humanity its benefits from a dark and shallow grave, I'm sure they would find your mortality enlightening, while they ponder the megalith of the universe from among the stars.
Sincerely, A Patron of Humanity.
