I've been batting around an idea lately for a psychological horror story based in the modern world gone 'horribly wrong' ('wrong' is the only real word to describe it without giving too much away), produced through the Source engine as a mod. I have my preliminary notes copyrighted as of now and I'd be willing to share them with anybody who is interested. I have absoluteley no editing skills as such, but I am incredibly creative-minded individual who will be starting my bachelor's science degree in video game art and design with the Art Institute next semester - as they have been very impressed with my past ideas and storywork I have written up.

Mod specifics; I'll be looking to incorporate the following:

New models, weapons, sounds, voice acting and music (time, skill and willpower willing)
As I've said before, a modern setting, with vile contortions and aberrations of the mind loosed upon our world, along with the staple zombies. Note - the 'aberrations' are not the standard fare of lurking demons and such from traditional 'Resident Evil'/Clive Barker type ventures, I'm talking more twisted servants of a dark mind. The closest I can think to this is along the lines of Silent Hill-esque imagery.
I also have an idea for a militant faction venturing for control of our world, a shadowy army somewhat akin to the combine, but not alien.

For weapons I'm thinking a basic conventional affair taken from what the main character can find. The base melee being a plank with nails in it, then progressing to a simple handgun, maybe a double shotty. I'd like to see a Winchester rifle in there - quite powerful but with ammo in very small supply. I was thinking the 'army' grunts to use some sort of basic automatic weapon, nothing very fancy. Maybe an uzi? And also any weapons they may have 'procured' (standard 12 gauge?). I'd also like to see a fire axe - more powerful melee.

I also have an idea for a weapon/item I call the 'Singularity Exception'. But I won't give any details on that yet.

I won't divulge any story specifics at this time, but I aspire this to be based on psychological fear and about these twisted creations vying for control.

Musical style I would like to be a mixture of symphonic and industrial.

For difficulty, the main character is going to be very much the average person, so realistic damage I think should be a must. I also have an idea for a more 'physical' damage system, as when a player is near death their vision is obscured and lose control of motor skills.

Maybe a basic hud to fit with the theme, no crosshair for realism (it's also more tense if you have less idea of where you're actually aiming, and easier to relate to your character).

So guys, give me some feedback and tell me if it's worthless me trying or if it has some promise. I'll answer any questions posed also.
 
I like the idea! I hope you can get a team together cuz I'll definately support it. Good luck bro. And remember, if it doesn't tide over well your welcome on our PD:S team. ;0)
 
Hey thanks, I'm a massive PD fan (It's in my n64 next to my pc right now, heh) so if this doesn't go anywhere I'll definately get on that with you.
