Anybody else notice that nobody is ever happy with anything popular?

I'm guessing it's just the Emo's i'm noticing (which makes sense, since a large majority of them sit inside on their computers, which is where all the bullshit oppinions I see could come from), but i've noticed that allot of the time, nobody is ever happy with anything, unless the rest of the thread is.

Like the X3 thread I saw in the Movies board. It's just a bunch of "this sucks cause it isn't faithful to the comic book" bullcrap. Nobody, except for Amish, actually said that it was a pretty good movie (standing on its own, away from the comics).

Everybody hated GRAW for PC. Granted, it wasn't a VERY good game, it wasn't that bad. But, in every thread I saw that said "this sucks", the rest of the thread was just "I agree".

Maybe I should have titled this thread "Nobody thinks for themselves anymore". It's true. People just take what others say, and what the big news companies say, for granted. This post is kinda leaning toward saying "these pricks get other people to make their decisions".

OOPS, I said it :O

Anybody else agree?

The mandatory "discuss".

People liked HL2/EP1 and it was popular!

Wrong, my friend. Episode One is unmatched in the FPS world, but people still bitch about it on these forums.

I didn't really dig episode one, i liked it and couldn't find anything wrong with it. But i just didn't feel anything when it ended :\ I need to play it again, because i think i went through it too fast.

But it's true, people tend to go with the flow. Baaaaah.

If the game ****ing sucks, the game ****ing sucks! I'm sorry. Deal with it bitch!

Shut up.

If you have something to contribute to the discussion at hand, then post away.

But if you want to start some small petty argument between two members, then PM them.

Oh, and i've started a bit of a "Social Experiment" ;)

No real reason. Just don't get that impression.

I think it basically comes down to this:

People are stupid.

Some people realize that and point it out once in awhile.

Chaos ensues.

More stupid people are born.

I agree with...someone in this thread :p

But seriously, you're right el sinko

Why can't anyone agree with another person's statement? If I think someone's correct, I can't agree without being said I can't stand up to the popular vote? I thought that GRAW did suck. The controls we're crap, it was too slow and buggy. I didn't like it, so crucify me for having an opinion that goes along with a few others.

But mine is a happy...angry...duck.

Lets just call it insane.

If you want reasoning here's mine.

You're on a gaming forum. Gaming forums are vistited by a minority group of hardcores with high expectations. Rubbish like GRAW will of course be flamed by us. We are numb from years of gaming. Almost nothing will garner a positive emotional response because "ITs all been done before" and if it hasn't been done before it better bloody well be done well.

It's the same with everything. Go to a star trek forum and all they'll do is flame everything star trek. Go to a guitar/music forum and all they'll do is flame every brand of guitar/amp and every single popular musician like Nickelback. Look at movie critics they flame every single popular movie unless it's something totally left of field like a retarded albino Italian girl looking for love in Tunisia. Movie critics are especially numb. Now don't tell me Leonard Maltin liked LOTR or something, i'm making a general comment.

The hardcores rule the forums. Emos? Yes i guess so! It's related to emotional numbness from overdoing one thing. I've overdone computer games , yes. I wish i could have balanced real life and comptuer games so i could be an EA whore and love the trash they release to the casual majority. But i didn't . I (and i guess a lot of people on this forum) felt compelled to go hardcore and results in this wretched hateful being that's damn hard to impress. But we are the minority. Real people in the real world with girlfriends and friends..and JOBS don't have time to analize about trivial things. They'll lemming their way through life happily seeing films like Xmen 3, walking out totally satisfied.

It's all about balance. Anyway, that's the bigger picture from my point of view. I'm now trying to steer clear of going hardcore for things i enjoy these days. I love the TV series battlestar galactica, but i'm staying the hell away from fan forums to endlessely yarn about the show. It just ruins it when you start to devote so much of your life around something fictional.

But the smaller picture is justifiably criticizing things that everyone can see. In films, bad acting, bad casting, bad directing, bad music. In games, buggy, boring, not fun.

So, if you get a sense everybody is emo and isn't impressed by anything, think about what i've said.

Not saying there's nothing wrong with having the same oppinion as somebody else.

What's wrong is when everybody lemmings allong, going "I agree" without ever understanding anything about what's wrong. They just think it's wrong cause somebody else thinks it's wrong.

And Mr-Fusion, you totally over rambled yourself there. I KINDA garnered what you were trying to stay, but it still goes completely overhead of what I was trying to say.

Again, it's one thing to have the hardcore minority think "Well, this is bad because of this reason". It's another to have a bunch of mindless fools think "This is bad. I know this totally because of what these guys say".

EDIT: OMFG! And my little social experiment is actually working!

I really don't know. As someone pointed out before, EVERY forum is full of flaming like this, so I guess we shouldn't complain about it.

GRAW was the worst game for the PC this year so far, the AI was bad, only a few guns to pick from, no 3rd person like the 360 version, solo missions that turn you into a Rambo, and the sniper rifle was completely useless.

As an aside, the argument 'the movie was crap because it was totally different from the original source material' is completely ridiculous and I hate hate hate it. A friend of mine thinks Spiderman the movie sucks because it's different from the comics. ARGH!

Pah, lies. There have been worse. Panzer Elite Action: Fields of Glory (PEA:FOG) for one. Man that was bad.

Look, someone said it before, and it's true: People are stupid.

I disagree with you sinko, I do not believe it has something to do with people just going with the flow or basing their opinions on the opinions of others. The reason a lot more people say it sucks is because they beleieve it sucks and because they see that the majority agree's wth them it's easier to express their opinion, cause you know you won't get flamed.

If the majority did not agree with them they would most likely say, well you know I did not like that or this. But if they see that everyone else think it sucks too, then it's easier for them to just say the way they feel without any need for explenation.

So it's not emo'ism but simply security thats at issue.

I disagree and i completely dispise the comment about, "I'm guessing it's just the Emo's i'm noticing (which makes sense, since a large majority of them sit inside on their computers, which is where all the bullshit oppinions I see could come from)"

So i'm emo because i spend a lot of the time inside on my computer ? Is it wrong to be emotional and agree with everyone else's opinions and thoughts ?

One of my problems is apparently I don't spend enough time on these boards and I get to threads late and the sentiments I would have liked to get across have already been conveyed in some fashion, so I end up simply agreeing with a former poster.

That said, if everyone here is poo-pooing a game that I have been excited about, it won't affect my decision to get it in the least. Same goes for movies and food and just about everything else. If I want to experience a certain end result for myself, why would I suffer the results of others?

Wow. If you don't like people who complain, especially online, why start a thread specifically complaining about people who complain?

I agree that "Nobody thinks for themselves anymore" is a much better topic name. It actually gives some clue as to what the thread is about, doesn't arbitrarily single out any group of people without basis, and isn't rude.

Eh, mostly I just think this thread is extremely unproductive.

It's beat down on emo kids day...Get with the times tbh.

Hahaha! Yeah, reminds me of that Monty Python 'Argument Skit' where the guy pays to argue with people, but here's the part I was thinking of where he wants to complain about the arguments he's been having:

M: I want to complain.
C: You want to complain! Look at these shoes--I've only had them three weeks and the heels are worn right through.
M: No, I want to complain about...
C: If you complain nothing happens, you might as well not bother.
M: Oh!
C: And my back hurts, it's not a very fine day and I'm sick and tired of this office...

or Episode 16 where everyone complains about the guy before him:

Highlander: As a Highlander I would like to complain about some inaccuracies in the preceding film about the poet Ewan McTeagle. Although his name was quite clearly given as McTeagle, he was throughout wearing the Cameron tartan. Also I would like to point out that the BALPA spokesman who complained about aeronautical inaccuracies was himself wearing a captain's hat, whereas he only had lieutenant's stripes on the sleeves of his jacket. Also, in the Inverness pantomime last Christmas, the part of Puss in Boots was played by a native of New Guinea with a plate in her lip, so that every time Dick Whittington gave her a French kiss, he got the back of his throat scraped.

Dr Cream: I would like to take this opportunity of complaining about the way in which these shows are continually portraying psychiatrists who make pat diagnoses of patients' problems without first obtaining their full medical history.

Man: I feel the time has come to complain about people who make rash complaints without first making sure that those complaints are justified.

Man: I'd like to complain about people who hold things up by complaining about people complaining. It's about time something was done about it. (the sixteen-ton weight falls on him)

I disagree. Just because someone has something to say about a topic, discussion, point, thing, wife, thread, car, world etc does not mean at all they're being emotional.

Pretentiousness is perhaps a better word for some, and I believe words like 'Emo' stick to rich kids who have nothing to complain about but find something to whine about anyway ...

I disagree. I mean, why don't you sit down and stfu. If people don't like X-men 3, then people don't like X-men 3. Sit down and deal with it.

Don't be prejudiced ;(

Would you rather have a chav typing in "X3 is d bomb, it has c00l xplosions!" (Only everything is in capitals)

Basically, my view can be summed up thusly:

Stop bitching. If you've got a real problem with something, do something about it! But if you're unhappy with something, tough shit. Complaining gets you nowhere.

But sinko likes complaining!

Especially in the form of lines of text

With

Gaps

In

Between

I haven't read this thread but I'm posting because I can.

Oh yeah...
