Was wondering around the web @ a few hl2 sites and well found none as good as this .. but i'm gunna post my top 5

1. www.hl2world.org ( strangely #1 I know but looks kinda funky, also it's new i hear so has great potential. This will only stay #1 as long as the guy in charge keeps it up to date )

2. www.halflife2.org ( nicely layed out and informative site, been going for a while and has some great staff )

3. www.hl2central.net ( Good news and mod info )

4. www.hl2arena.com ( Good informative but looks a bit plain )

5. www.halflife-2.org ( German site for those lucky enough to speak German tis a great site to visit )


If you find or know of other great sites out there post them here ....


... Would like to see more of what is out there ....
 
errr. I dont think that is to kosher. Unless of course you got permission from this site to "advertise" about other sites. Most people "frown" at this. Course I could be wrong.
 
aaah well nothing was meant by it just browsing the web and wanted to hear about other peeps sites and hear all the work that is goin' on out there ..

Also it's not an advertising thing it's I want to hear about other great sites out there I guess if this is outa place just delete it :(
 
hl2world.org = ugly...can't stand looking at it

halflife2.org = ugly...can't stand looking at it

hl2central = nicer looking and yes good mod info

hl2arena = nice...i like plain instead of gaudy

can't read german.
 
All they do is copy and paste articles from HalfLife2.net and put them on their own pages.
 
you said hl2world.org becuase that's your site. they jsut opened. don't you mean hl2world dot com?

its a friggin thread about sites. what's wrong with you? how is it spam if its the topic of conversation!? get a grip. secondly, i didn't attack him, he piggy backed and squatted on my trademarked domain name. i hate people like that. most iportantly, i make it clear that ************* is owned by penzamedia. i didn't sneak attack it in a top 5 list, like i was a third party reviewer.

LMAO!! your trademarked domain name hahahaha, you sooo haven't got a trademark on that, but nice dreaming about it though. I think it would be better if you actually looked into what trademarks are. I think you'll find anyone could go and register a different hl2world domain if they felt like it and there's little you can do about it legally or otherwise, so stop whining. You don't own the other domains until you buy them. The only way you can have any claim over them is if you own the trademark to the words hl2world, which I assure you that you don't.

Until then those names are available for anyone. If you truly had been able to trademark it, you'd be speaking to your lawyers to have it pulled, not complaining in someone elses forum like a child. Get a grip and stop trying to act like you know it all.

Umm well i wasn't sure so I checked them both out again and well ummm no hl2world.org is by far better than your .com however needs a great deal doing to it and will never compete with these guys from here as they are pwnage.

Would like to add Maskirovka this was my opinion and was hopefully going to get some links to other great sites. :)

lol...feedbag your website also has illegal screenshots, it's ugly, and provides nothing you can't get at a less annoying page.

those red and yellow pics of gordong that say "news" next to each news story are the most godawful thing i've ever seen...i can't read one of the news stories without my eyes flicking back and forth to that horribleness.

why not just put the goat se.cx picture there?

HL2 is not a trademark of valve or vivendi. if they are already tm'ed, they will deny my application. so be it. i'm not a fool for trying. guess that makes me a fool for trying to protect myself. btw, this whole site is a giant trademark infringement, but I'm not complaining about that.
 
i had my friend just look at it...his reaction:

the ****ing orange bars make me not even want to read the post...too much contrast

you need to ****ing login to look at screenshots

and wtf is that poll? weapons, maps, enemies, vehicles, storyline?
what about mod support, the physics engine, or multiplayer?

this guy is a fkn tool.

Thanks for the criticism. On behalf of the whole hl2world team, I'd like to apologize to your eyes. We are truly sorry to offend them. We hope you can find 200 plus screenshtos and wallpapers somewhere else that doesnt make you register. That's your perogative, and we support you in your endeavor. Cheers, and steadfast good man.

All I see is people ripping on him, its natural to try to defend yourself.
 
but he flames, spams, talks about the beta, and then tries to defend himself...

and on top of it, his site is ugly and has beta screens....very unprofessional imo...he lacks the credibility he needs to defend himself, imo.

This will be the last time I bring this up. I don't spam. This was a thread about halflife2 sites.

I don't flame either. I have a legitamate gripe with the censoring of our URL. I have asked to mods now to discuss it with me, and noone has real answers for me. So if frustration and anger is flame, I guess its flame.

The only thing to talk about is the beta. Do you really get mad when people talk about it? Should it be ignored. This is neither the thread nor forum to answer that, and I can appreciate that. You don't need to look down on me becuase I allow that conversation on our site.

I really take offense to the spam accusation though. I don't spam. The worst I've done is start a thread about a reuters article we caught the second it came out. Just being timely. I don't consider that spam. And if reacting to accusations is spam, than you got the wrong definition.

Does that clear anything up?
 
What is the big deal with beta screens? If someone steals a car is it illegal to have pictures of it? No. it is not. Its not illegal to talk about it either. And just beacuse you dont agree with the ethics his website does not mean its illegal. Because it's not.

As far as ugly, some of the most successful websites on the web are "ugly". Again, its a matter of opinion, so its not even worth discussing. I think Hilary Clinton is hot, for example.

it's easy to insult someone without actually calling names or anything...you can use sarcasm, which feedbag did successfully.

i've said his site is ugly...of course it's my opinion...what else could it be? i said it...it's not something that can be fact...therefore it's opinion.

and it's against forum rules to post or link to screenshots of the stolen material...his website has screenshots of that material...which is why it's blocked out.
therefore he's breaking forum rules...which means it doesn't matter if they're illegal or not...forum rules are forum rules.

so yeah i gave him my honest opinion of his website...it wasn't flaming, imo...just my blunt opinion...if he takes offense, that's his problem. if the mods take offense, then it's my problem.
it's just frustrating that he tries to get his site unblocked when it still has beta screens. it's not gonna happen.

Using your car example, If someone takes pictures of a prototype car before its gone fully public (as in on the market or atleast in the exhibitions) without permission to do so, then yes it is actually very illegal to have photo's of it. Read the papers and the car mags, sometimes with the newest cars they can draw a quick sketch if their lucky but camera's are forbidden and anyone found showing them can and often do end up in court. More often than not the newer cars are completely hidden and anything going public about their appearance is illegal. Simple as that. Oh and the stealing of the car in your example, thats illegal too :p

In my honest opinion, you are using a very liberal definition for the term flaming. I neither intentionally flame, troll, or spam on message boards. I find it very unbecoming. I WILL argue my point, and can be aggressive in that matter. If people feel threatened by a retaliatory tone in my typing, then perhaps public message boards aren't the safest venue for them to play in.

I'm sorry if you take any of my posts to be flames, but you are mistaken. It's an innocent mistake, but a mistake nonetheless.

As an aside, perhaps if you have time, you can outline some concrete reasons why my site is censored; yet others, such as www.halflife2.org or hl2arena.com aren't. Not that it's your duty to, but you are a mod, and I'd love a reason, instead of just a closed thread.

To get back on the topic, my favorite sites are as follows:

1.hl2world dot com - We put a lot of hard work in , so it's my favorite
2.planethalflife.com - the gold standard
3.halflife2.org - the first site to offer affilateship with ours, so that makes them good people in my book
4.halflife2.net - our biggest referrer to date, so its been great being a part of the mix
5.gtwy.hl2arena.com - the second biggest referrer to our site.
 
that was my friend who said he was a fkn tool. to be completely honest that wasn't my opinion. you can call me a liar if you want, but it won't be true.

your site has beta screenshots on it. by posting your website link you are breaking forum rules. if these other websites have beta screens, notify the mods so they can block those too.

did you read the forum rules?

Linking to ************* doesn't link toa screenshot. I can find screenshots on hl2arena as well as halflife2.org, but its okay to link to them? that makes no sense. Furthermore, you aren't a mod here, so I'll leave it to them to answer why. Thanks for opinions though. I appreciate them.

Why is it frustrating for you? You aren't running the site. It's frustrating for me, becuase I DO run the site.

One other thing: This site illegally uses graphics, images, and logos owned byValve Software, but see www.halflife2.net i can link to it. So in this example, I have been put into my own little section of "special" law breakers. It's okay to rip off logos and graphics, just as long as its not pictures from the beta and demo at E3? Even the name is a trademark infringement here. I am baffled. That's all.

Flame-by-proxy is the same thing as you flaming. It served no purpose to include that other than to incite a response, whether your friend said it or not, it was irrelevant to the post at hand and you included it for no other reason but to be confrontational. In short, you are a troll.
 
mrnbadger and d33, can all you mods have a discussion and please have someone message me or email me and let me know what differentiates me from all these other sites, including your own? Or could you please get rifd of the word filter? It's the last I'll ask of it. I've already PMed two of you, without any real answers. Now that you're reading the thread, maybe you can give this issue some introspective. cheers and thanks inadvance :cheers:
