This is the best place for it I suppose...

I was running through HL again when I came to the cliffside. I took out the sentry gun and grunt to the right as usual, dropped a detpack on the one below me and jumped down. Then I stopped and just looked around a bit, and I noticed a ledge beneath the one I was on that I had never seen before. What the hell I thought, I'll quicksave and jump down there then jump again to my death on the bottom level. But no: it's another way down! There's a small alcove with a crushed grunt in it and some medpacks, and around the corner some small stepping points to jump down saftely! I was just amazed. I've been playing the SP again every now and then for ages, but there are STILL things I haven't seen. :D

Yeah, that's all. Sorry. :P

Where? Can you supply screenshots of that? Cause I'm confused where it is...

The cliffside was the best bit in Half-Life IMO. I loved the music as you just crawl out of the pipe, and a fighter jet flies right by you. :D

I'm yet to find the chumtoad :(

I still find the occasional new glitch or area, such as turning on your flashlight before entering the portal at the end.

If you like constantly finding new things in a game you'd love NetHack. You can play that game for years and still find new things.

I experienced this last year sometime. In the section just before you get to the freezer/kitchen things, there's a room with grenades in that I've never been able to get into. Then I found a way into it. I was shocked, because it's something I'd played through about 10 times, but I always missed the way into this room.

I just went on that save Varsity, and as you fall down right at the end of the platform towards the left, the rocks fall, like it's really dangerous, tahts so great :D Something i'd never noticed before... !

I'm suprirsed at how many people have failed to notice this. Considering people have missed that area, have you found the room with the padlocked door when you are traversing through the water with all the moving mechanical wheels? Halfway through you can pop up and theres a balcony to your right with a padlocked door. Bust it open and theres a hev charger in there. It's just before you go up the ladder to the surface where there are 2 grunts and a tank guarding the entrace to the lambda complex, just before your final fight with grunts in the Mechanized Infrantry bay where yah get to use the tanks weaponry.

It took me another replay before I realised that you can go back through the security door (which you first open directly after the tram ride) by thwacking its control panel; and the collapsing walkway and the falling scientist looked so out of place I had to concentrate very hard to stop myself thinking I was playing a mod.

Same with the tentacle in the desert area (the one with the convenient grenades and medkits surrounding its hole).

Wow, another! It's very underdeveloped. I guess Valve forgot about it too. :p

Not many people have saw the one in Unforseen concequences, when you get back to the main entrance (the big doors on rollers) if the door control panal is shot you can crawl through, get some ammo and see a scientist die funny while giving a lil' humorous statement towards you.

Greatest. Music. EVAR.

I find new places everytime I play HL too. I hope HL2 is the same way. Off-topic but you know the new ds misson? The one which you must stay hidden but rescue all the hostages in the office? If you go back after rescuing the bank owner where he came from, you find a jack in the box! Or in Interloper their is a part before the blue thing that shoots fire out. There is a dark ledge with some goodies.

Varsity : I don't actually see what other way you would go. If you go to the right, you have to crater it down the cliff anyway.

Hijack. Can anyone get in the first weapon room in uplink? It's where you see the first head crabs, and before you see the first grunts.

Know what i mean?

You slide down the huge pipe. There's some sort of damage blocker at the end. :)

Am i the only one whose hands
Sweat like crazy when playing that part?
I hate heights in games.

Another part that many of you may or may not know:

In the level where you find the armory (shortly after navigating your way through the trip mines, and the underground tunnel), there is another secret storage area.

How To Get There:

1. From the Armory (which Barney opens) go out the window onto the ledge, jump across onto the power box, and grab hold of the hanging ladder.

2. Climb up and make your way across the remains of one of the buildings (by strategically jumping onto the second floor from the roof).

3. Round the corner you will come out into a landing pad where two Alien grunts will break through the gate as an Army helicopter circles overhead.

4. Proceed past the Alien Grunts (the Marines will handle them) and go down the ramp (another Alien Grunt will come out of a hallway).

5. After he is dispatched, move past his remains to a door that is locked from one side (you will be able to open it now).

6. You are now back in the area with the hanging ladder; go get Barney.

7. Bring him back to the door and through the tunnel.

8. As you come out the other side, immediately turn to your right and there will be a locked security door (Barney will open it for you).

Inside you will find some pistol ammo, an HEV charger, a Health charger, and a stairway to the missile launcher. :D

I was quite surprised to find this little secret. Thanks to this thread, I now know of the other one in the water section with the moving wheels. I found out the alternate way down the cliffbase a few months ago. It was also cool to get into the small room, with the grenades, by going through the vent, in the shadows, behind the red door. :stare:

I wanna find more now.

Playing through HL again, up to Xen :/
Thing is on the second jump I missed the landing, But it saved the game just before I missed (in mid air) so loading that save game just brings me to my death every time lol

I played through Half-Life and Opposing Force after reading that Thread. When I got to that part with the armoury Barney was dead; A soldier had run up and killed him. I couldn't even get into the armoury next door to him.

Shoot the soda machine in that small room. Check behind it :)

Well, it's not a secret just something else you can do. There's a lot of that you can miss in Half-Life.

Wrong Barney. The Barney that opens the Armoury is the one you see being chased by the 3 marines, just as you get the Hivehand.

I don't think it is... I've just played through it again as well.

I think he was supposed to be in the game as a monster/weapon, but was replaced by the snark... the model's still in the game and used in the mod Sven Co-Op.

Can someone find out how to get into the blue room in the multiplayer map, 'Crossfire'? I got there by noclipping, and there's a button to open the door and get out... but how to get in?
