sixth harry potter book gone gold!

YES! I've been waiting for this one...

Anyways, anyone who's read the books hate the third attempt at a movie? I sure as hell did.

Personally I loved the 3rd movie, its the first 2 that sucked. I wish the dvds where more like lord of the rings extended versons, with deleted bits added right into it with efx and stuff, the harry potter dvds have been crappy so far, some "Mini games" crap deleted stuff thats not even had efx added in. All in all. Meh.

THe third movie...didn't follow the book at all. Well, the basic story was there. But other than that it's a disgrace. And please tell me how hogwarts ended up in a mountain range? Please? I've read all the books, and Harry never had to walk down the side of a mountain to get to Hagrids cabin. This argentinian director can go to hell for all of me. I was really looking forward to the third movie...he completely destroyed it.

I love harry potter as much as the next person, but you have to think in view of film maker, not a fan.

Film makers are NOT There to remake the book, remember this, there job is to retell the story for film views, if they take the book page by page to make the film, not only will it be way to long, but it would not be layed out well, and alot of things in books do not work in films.

There are allways going to be bad things, changes people dont like, for example I dislike that they have moved the whomping willow (It used to be inside the grounds, in the 2nd film) it adds abit of "Eh..what?" to the film, but theres allways a reason behind it, if you or me cant see it does'nt mean its not there.

If your a fan of the book, keep it that way, JK wont destroy the book, she is writeing for book fans, the film makers are doing it for people who may not like to read, there wanting to see a griping film, not one where they have to read a book to understand it.

Also the mountan range thing does make sence if your from England, Its said Hogwarts is up north someplace, most likely placing it in scotland, it would need to be far away from muggles, and places like that are more then likely going to be hilly/mountain covers areas. JK never said Hogwarts was NOT there, but she never it was, its all down to the reader to deside, for example I did'nt picture hogwarts like that, but I dont take it personally as not everyone sees the same thing when reading the book.

Hope you got the end of my boring I-am-a-film-nut speach :p

Yeah well if the film followed the book to the word it would be really boring. Its good to have some variety. The first two were crap but the third was amazing. I cant wait until the 4th film that was an excellent book, shame they arent going to put it into two films, that would be good. Anyways I shall be reading the 6th book and im looking forward to it

I saw the first and second films... both were terrible so I didn't even think about seeing the third. The books are alright... I've read all of them so far so I suppose I'll be getting this one :p

hm, I´ve read all the Potter books in english, and I liked even the films. Sure there was some scenes that were changed and cut out and all, but really I dont think they could have done better job with the films.. :/

LOL!! funny :D

Ooo yay more hairy pooter! /sarcasm

I really do read the books, and like em sortof.

I read the books and I like them. It gets my mind of other things like school and videogames for a change. Looking forward to reading this one even if I am getting a little old for harry potter.

hmm, nice. i haven't read anything in quite a while so this will be good.

I love the books the first 2 movies were good to me but the 3rd movie was really wack, im guessing because i was accustomed to the usual hogwarts and the way it ended was oh so terrible ":( But i cant wait to read

I live near JK Rowling in Edinburgh. My flatmate saw her the other day. She's pregnant.

Another character dies in this one, I've read. I hope she doesn't do this every book, it'll get a bit predicatable and not really that big a deal at all.

Anyway, I like the idea of a book going gold. Ha. I'm going to use it in real life,

"Tim, you're lunch has gone gold. Come and get it."
"The new bridge across the river has gone gold."

And so on.

"Tim, you're lunch has gone gold. Come and get it."
"The new bridge across the river has gone gold."

Hahahahahhahaha! :D

(also read all of the HP books... they were given to me and I read them... hm strange...)

Yay!!! Can't wait. hmm, 15 days after my birthday...

I'm definitely looking forward to it. I hope it's better than the 4th. The 4th was the best so far I think. The 5th had too much of Harry bitching.

On the movies side of things...I liked the 3rd movie much better than the first 2. I liked the new landscape and the new Hogwarts locations they showed. One thing they should've changed was how high Harry flew in the quidditch game. He probably flew to a few thousand feet. That was a bit too high if you ask me... I also wonder if they'll wait 'till the 5th movie to even introduce Cho Chang. They didn't in the 3rd.

How long was it in Beta?

Sorry couldnt resist...

Anyway, I loved the five other books and I am looking forward to this one.

Mass Genocide would be unpredictable and possible entertaining. A possible idea for the Seventh book? Oh wait, these are supposed to be Kid friendly books aren't they :)

I heard that this book is shorter than the fifth. As much as I like the Harry Potter books, I really did feel that the Fourth and Fifth got awfully waffley sometimes... hope this one is more of a sensible size. The films are a nice aside to the books. Nowhere near as good as reading it for yourself, but they are actually watchable. The third was almost excellent: made little sense to my family who hadn't read the book though. The acting was also a lot better this time; particuarlly Emma Watson who previously got quickly annoying.

there is going to be a leak and will be delayed to lack of funding. Copies are already floating out on the internet. But be warned, there is less description and more spelling errors than the published version will have.

I am looking foward to it

I wonder if it'll have events and characters that don't appear in the final release? I think we should all find this beta release and whine incessently about these differences when the Final product is in our hands.

There fake

JK never has her work on computer, naw does she show anyone, its impossable for it to be leaked, the last leaks have all been fake.

OMFG! Wasn't expecting this one for years for some reason. This is excellent.

wtf is all this fuss over harry potter? isnt it for very young kids or uber, uber, uber, uber nerds

and another thing, some of you people (that means you ritz) need to realise when someone is taking the piss and lighten the **** up. I was sorta half piss taking that time like i usually am when i post. Stop taking things so seriously.

I suggest you read them. Each book becomes more and more "adult".

I've seen the three films so far, not read the books, so i cant form an opinion on the books themselves as of yet. I'l probably get them out of the library at some point :)
I hope they are all made into films, if they are of the same quality as the last 3 (although 2 was dodgy with the car..) i'l probably buy the lot on dvd. :D

Unforunatly you appear to have missed something in this thread: never mind, for I have just the machine to help you with your woes!

Can you use the term "going gold" for a book?

Anyway, never been interested in the Harry Potter books, I'm generally not interested in books that don't contain rape and/or murder and are usually horror orientated, although "The Lord of the Rings" was an exception, though I suppose you could argue it contained murder!
