Anyone listen to any form of Ska?

I'm a huge fan of Ska Punk from the 90s currently doing a rediscovery. Along with grunge it's what I listen too most growing up.

Also really like Madness.

So if you guys listen, what bands do you like and why?

whad de fvck is ska?

skaters music?

yeah it's skater music

i used to listen to it in middle school

ska punk always seemed stupid to me, despite my brief sojourn with it

Great fun! :D

Love it when on a night out with mates having a skank :D

I like 90's Ska Punk like Op Ivy etc. I also enjoy the ooooold 60s Jamacian stuff, and some of the 70s/80s 2-tone like The Specials.

Whenever I tell people I like Ska they always assume I listen to Reel Big Fish or Less Than Jake. That'd be like claiming to be a Metal fan because you listen to Avenged Sevenfold.

Op Ivy was the only ska band I could really withstand listening to.

Everything else is shite.

Ska, I believe, is the genre that gets my ire the most. =P

Sublime mixed it up with a bit of ska, and they're still one of my favorite bands. Also Less Than Jake did some skage and they have a few good songs.

Ska makes up probably 80-90% percent of the music I lesten to. My favorite bands are the modern ones that play old style ska- the LSackers, teh Aggrolites, etc. I used to be really into the third wave punk stuff a couple years ago, around 8th and 9th grade.

The english beat are also really cool, though they seem to me to be a sort of "girl's" band.

I'm not a huge fan of punk ska but i do like all the old jamaican stuff

I also like Madness, Specials and Dead 60s, british ska ftw forever

My favourite Madness single is probably Baggy Trousers, My favourite Dead 60s single is Ghost Faced Killer by far..

My sister is really into ska, and was part of a band, and I was brought up with her music, so I like it too. Very nice and upbeat. Uhm I like Save Ferris a lot. They're ossum.

I love alot of ska bands. Less Than Jake, Reel Big Fish, Streetlight Manifesto, Catch 22, Choking Victim. Always gets me in a good mood.

Someone find me a ska band that legitimately does not sound like every other ska band ever. I'm tired of hearing "OMG LISTEN TO THIS SKA BAND THEY ARE AMAZING AND UNIQUE", only to have every song turn out to be a mishmash of spoken-word/shout-alongs, overused brass phrases, and all guitar chords being played on the G, B, and high-E strings :P

I still listen to The Specials and Madness often and am a big Rancid fan - they were certainly influenced somewhat by Ska. I'm not that impressed by more modern ska punk, but have enjoyed Sublime and the Mad Caddies in the right situation.

On the whole Ska is all good :)

Tell your stupid friends to stop listening to Less than Jake crap and find some real ska.

Well then YOU find me a good ska band that isn't Sublime, since everyone has Sublime :P

Capdown, Sonic Boom Six (whether SB6 are Ska is debatable, but hey) Leftover Crack (bits of Ska but they're more Crust than anything), Choking Victim, Against All Authority (a good particularly good example).

In all fairness, Sublime are not Ska. Influenced by it, sure. Listen to any Ska band and the sound is quite different to anything sublime have done.

The Slackers <3 Also, RX Bandits aren't bad.

I used to be really into Asian Man Records back in my ska days - Mu330, Unsteady, Five Iron Frenzy, Lets Go Bowling, Link 80, Slapstick, Potshot (Japanese punk ska = pwn, lol), The Toasters

Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra are quite fun. Not the best band in the world in terms of music - but easily the best name.

Reggae is it for me right now. Ska was awesome back in the 90s during the 3rd wave, but that is long gone now. I wonder when the 4th wave will roll in....

I like all forms of ska ..although I grew up on Two-tone ska ..lately I'll listen to a radio show on ska which is great cuz they play a lot of the classics and even play rockabilly and rocksteady ...I sometimes prefer rockabilly as it's a little more varied than ska but it depends on my mood

not too fond of modern ska like goldenfinger and that other band ..it's just a little too much of a rip off of the classic stuff

Goldfinger are not a good example of modern Ska. The bands I listed earlier are where the real innvoation is.
