Sooo.....

Any of you sluntbags like to ski and/or snowboard? Can't wait to get up to A-Basin or Vail this season. Personally, I think skiing is just about my favorite sport ever. I started out snowboarding but later switched over to skis. I pulled my first 360 mute last March (not much I know, but meh). I aslo kinda got into telemark skiing last season. Learning the ins and outs of telemark has been really rewarding.

Anyway, what are guys' favorite mountains? Do you guys like bumps? How about jumps or rails? What kind of skis/snowboard do you own? Any cool ski stories to share? For you Europeans out there how are the Alps?

Yah I love skiing, can't wait for it to start snowing. I use normal skis and I also have a pair of snowblades.

I also have these things called sled dogs. What they are, are pretty much ski boots with a tiny back end coming off of it. Search for them in google you could probably find a picture of them there.

I ski at a place called Bristol Mountain. It's not that big but its the biggest place near me. Once a year though I go and ski at some big places in Vermont. One is Gore Mt. and the other is Okemo. Okemo is the best.

Dude, have you ever skiied in the Rockies? Skiing in the east is fun, but once you ski the rockies its hard to go back. Good on ya for skiing at all though.

:dozey: Snowboard all the way sucka, we run over skiiers. Big Bear baby, Big Bear... although I haven't gone in a looooong time.

I know but its so far away. One of my friends moved out south and he skis at Vail. He lives in Eagly, Colorado.
The place where Coby got in trouble and we were visiting when it happened. My friends dad was the womens doctor. Well I kind of got off on a tangent.
I'm hoping that I can go skiing in the Rockies some time.

used to ski, started snowboarding in middle school (we went skiing/boarding every friday back in the day). snowboardings way more fun i think. i dont go up very often, but i do whenever i can. last year we had a hell of a snowstorm, so i was snowboarding in the seattle metro area, a lot of others were too.

I telemark.

I like it alot. It's a whole different ballgame than alpine, most notably it's a much better workout. Do you actually live in Moscow or is that a joke? What's your favorite mountain?

You ever been up to Whistler/Blackcomb in BC?

absolutely, i love blackcomb. some of its pretty god damn hard though. usually i go to a closer area, like stevens pass or snowqualmie.

OMG!1!1! TEH DOUBLE POSTS!!11

Personally, I don't like the look of telemark skiing. I love just going really fast down hills or doing glades. Telemark skiing just doesn't look like something for me. Maybe I'll try it some day.

Ya, it's great. Been telemarking for about 7 or 8 years now.

Heh, yes I do live in Mosow. Moscow, Idaho that is. I ski mostly at Schweitzer, though the best place I've skied at is definitley whistler/blackcomb.

I like snow blades though! ;( I like them because I can turn quicker when going through glades. I normally use skis though. Use the snow blades when I'm with my friends.

i dont hate snowblading itself, i just hate the people who snowblade :p

Man, that's so cool you guys have been up to Blackcomb. Some of the best skiing ever. There's some really intense stuff up there, really tough, really fun.

Never tried it. But I've seen people pull off some crazy shit off tabletops on those things. You can get SO much rotation, it's almost cheating. I don't mind them at all though, whatever floats your boat.

You can't handle ze diamonds!:p

So what type hills do you people ski, and how long have you been skiing? I ski all of them, and I've been skiing for 6 or 7 years now.

I snowboarded for about 4 years and then switched over to skiing for the last 6 or so. I like doing everything, bumps, trees, steeps. Lately I've been hanging out in the terrain park alot though.

The terrain park where I ski at really sucks. So me and my friends try to find unconventional ones on the sides of the path.

I just started snowboarding early this year (January) and I can't wait for it to start getting lots of snow up in the mountains, gonna be fun this year. Anyway, closest area to me is Stevens Pass, I've only been there once though. I went to Mount Hood though in February, that place is damned fun...

Mountains: Mammoth. June. Tahoe.
Equip: Nitro snowboard.
Style: Insanity.

EDIT: 250 posts! YAY! Only 8,144 more until I become top poster.

I tried snowboarding once... ended up falling face first down a mountain and getting snow rammed up every opening on my head... :)

I did snowboard for 5 years and was a instructor for a year, unfortanely I use to live in PA, and now I am going to college in Florida, hoping to get back at it for christmas break. :D

Telemarking in the terrain park is a blast I think. Plus, it's kind of nice since you hardly see anyone else ever doing it.

Well, my location and with all the people around here, I was doomed to start skiing.
I started skiing about 5 years old, and I still do it today.
Back then, I was in competitions and was very good, until a race in Björkliden when I was 16.

It was -37C and heck, everyone thought it was going to be canceled since it was a "super-g" and the course was icy, very icy. I was first out, came to a suddent icy spot and fell, dislocating my knee and breaking both of my legs. Mountainrescue flew me to the hospital with helicopter. :)
I quit after that, mostly because I couldn't skii for a year since alot of "brosk" (swedish word, don't know the english) got seperated and I couldn't just support on it anymore.

But I love skiing, yes. :)

i lvoe snowboarding allbeit i suck at it. just have a hard time controllign at higher speeds

same here... just slam into the ground to stop.... wait... don't slam into the ground... :D

i ski and snowboard... used to be pretty darn good at both, especially skiing, now i suck at both haha ;( always seem to go right after i've been really sick... and i have no strength hehe. that, and i only get to go up a couple times a year now... wtf.

my fav places to ski... copper mountain and vail and winterpark/mary jane. for some reason, there's NEVER any crowd whenever i go. lucky i guess.

btw, last time i went snowboarding, i dislocated my shoulder AT THE F*CKING GAS STATION, tripping over the curb... funny because i've fallen only a handful of times ever snowboarding or skiing :( wtf... goddamn gas station :(

i ahve mastered falling and getting back up without stoping. its fun. untill you put out your back. which is only slightly less fun

I used to ski, but have been snowboarding for the past 12 years. I still get about 40 days in during the season, and a quite a few days during the summer hiking to the snowline and building kickers and sessioning those over a few beers. Games come a very distant second to snowboarding for me.

Favorite places to ride: Baker, Stevens, and Alpy.

I love skiing, usually i go to the french alps at least once a year.

I'd love to get a job up there and do a season some day. :)

I do some snowboarding every now and then, but usually drive around on my Yamaha RX-1 snowmobile. It's a lot more fun than that :dork: board :p

It's all about Skiing. Everyone seems to be into snowboarding these days that that's what all the kids are doing. I can't wait 'till it goes full circle and skiing comes back into fashion.

I've never skied in the US only in the Alps: Val Thorens, Courchevel, Val D'Isere, Les Arcs, Tignes and Verbier.
