Skills Database

Hi. I'm thinking of setting an online database of people that want to work on mods.

I see a lot of threads, including one of mine, that are asking for help but no one seems to be out there. In my experiecne it is often very frustrating trying to find the right team.

That is why I propose an online database. People email me with basics such as:

- Name
- E-Mail
- Location (Time differences can be a bitch sometimes)
- Skills

The person then will be put up onto the database and mod teams can have a look through who's available.

What do you think?

I think it's a great idea. In fact, it's one I was suggesting myself (which is a large part I think it's a great idea). Instead of location you might want GMT +/- though. A database would be very helpful. You might also want "Currently Projects" in case someone can handle two jobs.

Damn. I finally have a good idea, and what do you know? Someone else has already done it.

Oh well that's life I guess...

EDIT: Does that site have a list of people and skills, or is it just mods?

skills? like modeling and programmin skills?

well I don't know but everyone is checking moddb.com. It's realy high traffic :)

#halflife2.dev @ quakenet :)

Edit: Just a warning: ppl at moddb are a bunch of kids. Your call to deside if that is good or not :)

Kids as in young doesn't bother me.

Kids as in inexperienced, immature modders does.

That site just lists mods, with a profile. What Lionel's talking about (I think) is a resumé database for people who want to work on mods.

Hrm, the moddb seems to have a Help Wanted section, but it's not very well designed, and you can't look for people, you just send out a call for help.

The second line is right, and it really bugs me...

sharp We will try to make the site for developers (and i mean real developers..not "crew hunting" ones)

We will see how that goes, i hope it will do alright.
