So, it's about that time where I feel like exercising and getting into shape. I have thick thighs and bulky calves and stuff, I want to make everything more lean. I just hate it.. what kind of exercises can I do to make them more slim and lean?

Nothing.

Excercize just builds muscle, and burns fat both equally and randomly. If there's a layer of fat around your legs, that muscle won't show through.

Go on a diet. No, don't fast, just start eating healthier. When you start eating healthier, you can start eating less, because you're getting all the essential nutrients you need.

You need, at minimum, 1,700 callories a day. Figure out your current calorie intake, then try to cut out all empty callories, such as snack foods and deserts, and then figure out what your callorie intake is without those. Then try to figure which meals you eat are the least healthiest, then try to figure out what you'd take in if you changed to a healthier meal.

Depends on how you mean. You can't spot reduce fat. Only way to do that is liposuction.

If it's for muscle building, it's kind of hard to build lean muscle there.. and I don't really get why you'd want to if you're male.

I'd recommend doing that plus a pretty heavy cardio routine. Running or biking 30-40 minutes a day isn't going to put on that much muscle, but it will reduce your overall body fat, which combined with the diet should help you become more lean.

And remember.

It's not the ammount of time you spend working out, it's the intensity and effort you put into it.

IE:

You don't need to jog 10 miles every other day, just run a mile around the local highschool track after work, or before you leave for work.

Well, it really depends. The amount of time can be important for cardio excercise. You need to get your heart rate up around 160-180 or so and keep it there for a while to really get a good workout. Also, the more time you put in the more you can improve your over-all endurance.

Granted, a 10 mile run is quite excessive, but on the other hand a 20 minute moderate run is going to be far better than a one mile sprint.

Do you do any kind of calorie counting and carbohydrate/protein/fat ratios?

No, not really. The whole calorie counting thing is kind of pointless for me as I can't gain weight from eating. Stupid metabolism has had me stuck at the same weight for years, no matter if I eat a 1000 calories a day or 4000. Only reason I work out is to gain weight, heh.

Muscles used up twice as much calories as fat just to exist.

Just having muscles will help you burn up more calories!

On another note, the brain uses about 20 times more energy as a conventional muscle.
This is why most geniuses are so slim :p

Negative it uses 21% of calories, then muscles 20% and liver 20%

That's still a lot though :p

Again on another note, Absinthe's liver takes 90% of his energy reserves.

Maybe he wants to wear drainpipe jeans, or leather trousers? As is his right as a modern, empowered metrosexual man.
