Slow In Game Loading Times...

The game during levels freezes and LOADING appears in the middle of the screen.This lasts for about 40 seconds before the game continues. IS THIS NORMAL? i have 1megRAM,9800pro,160GB,3.2 P4. My AA and AF are on maximum. Also whats the difference between x16 and trilinear on graphics settings. What are the optimal settings? (ive just got gravity gun and its GREAT)

you have a 9800pro and 1 meg of ram are you serious?

im going to guess that you meant one gig of ram and yes, that is normal, the world in hl2, or any video games for that matter, arent made up of just one giant world, its lots of smaller maps put together to make it seem that way. hl2 is very new, and requires a while to load on all machines.

40 seconds? Mine last for 10 seconds.

Some of them (naturally) are a lot longer than other - sure, some are 10, but some of them are nearer 30.
