i had a 4200ti agp 8x before and i have replaced this with a 6600gt. other games are ok but with cs source i get lesser frames than what i had with 4200ti. i dont think its the drivers cus im using the same driver. can someone please tell me whats wrong with it?

my pc specs are
p4 3.06 northwood core
1gig ddr333 ram

thanks

Lol.

Upgrade your driver. Old driver + new video card == bad.

Uninstall your old ones first though. I kept getting the blue screen of death due to overlapping sound card drivers.

What's more, I think that 4200ti does not support dx9 graphics, while gf6600 does. That means you get better visuals at the cost of performance. If you force DirectX 8 in CS:S on your new video card, then you should get more fps.

it should run perfectly fine in dx9

I have a similar setup (except a slightly faster CPU and DDR2-400 RAM) and I can run CS:S with everything maxed at 60fps, he shouldn't have much problems running it at high settings.
