So I started drawing some isometric stuff in MS Paint (my one and only pixel art program), it it started to look good.

When I was finished, it didn't satisfy me. So I tried going out of my "usual" style, and dirtied it up. Added more colors, texture, etc.

And remember, all done in MS Paint... I can't imagine how much easier it would be to do all this with photoshop or something. (Blending, Layers, etc.)

This took 2 hours. Let me know what you think.

You are indeed the MS Paint pixel guru! ;)

Looks very cool, must of taken you a while :D

I hope your planning on making a game out of all this Iso stuff? I miss those kinds of games like I said in another thread. Would love to play them, especially if you went overboard on the blood and guts in it too, can't beat it :D

I am teh noob when it comes to making games :/

I wish I knew some C++ or something.

Maybe if someone wants to join up with me...

You could do it in flash, I've been getting a crash course in flash and there's now so many tutorials out there it probably isn't anywhere near as hard as it used to be to make a game out of it.. Hardest part will be making all the artwork.

You could make a zombie game, lil shotguns and rockets and fun mines a pixel in size.. ooh and make it MP that would be awesome! :D:D:D

I am flattered :o

RJMC is as good as me with Paint, but he actually draws with it, not pixel art.

So me and him just pwn MS Paint together :)

that is cool, did u like sketch it out by hand first or did u dive straight in ??

No, no sketching is involved when you are making isometric art. This art is done pixel by pixel. Every pixel has a story... Hehe...

This really is a simple piece... Just very basic geometry, but just fancy texturing.

I started by drawing a block.. And iso block.. And that turned into a wall. Then that turned into more walls, and and entrance with little structures on them. Very simple. Then I drew the, what to call it, statue? Ohh man the word is slipping at the moment... Monument?

Anyway, after that, I added the very basic tan color to everthing. Added very simple shading. Added the brick pattern to the walkway. Then I added the grass. This is when I decided to get more textured in my little piece here. I added moss on the walls, and then got messy with some tan hues, scribbling on the walls and stuctures. But there was still some "order". The tint would be focused around the moss and ground, or wherever it need be.

Yeah that's basically how it was done...

EDIT: The grass was done by scribbling a little patch of dark green off to the side. Then I picked a darker green, added some spots. Picked a lighter one, added spots. Picked a yellowish, added spots. Then a brown, and added spots again.

Then I copy pasted that patch all around the grass area. I had to get the small spaces manually.

The last thing I did was pick a very dark green, and scribble on the grass that was furthest from any of the stone; the "thickest" part of the grass.

Good stuff.

I don't know why... but the texturing and theme reminds me of the expansion pack to Wolfenstein 3D, Spear of Destiny.
