Valve have released a small steam update that focuses on the source dedicated server. Here's the changelog:

[br]Source Dedicated Server
  • Added Half-Life 2: Deathmatch to the dedicated server UI
  • Temporarily disabled SourceTV beta for backend changes

As per usual, to receive the update, just restart your Steam client.

Wait, SourceTV??? I never heard anything about it.... lol wierd

Anyways any update is a good update as long as it doesn't break things in my book ;) Thx VALVe

Uhh.. Where are the hit box fixes? Is that not one of the most anticipated updates?

Well I knew that... I didn't know that they implemented it though... I've never heard anything about it is what I said, I never said I didn't know what it was :)

I'm going to take a wild guess on this, but I suspect that they're still being worked on and not finished, thus not yet released. :p

I'll take another guess, they are fine, and you need to learn how to aim?

Not unless you can tell me how you can shoot peoples feet and get a headshot... :imu:

Hit boxes are fine.

No I've done tests to, the hitboxes are quite funky, they seem to propel themselves more in the direction and don't match with the model... I was a skeptic until I did tests on my own...

Like if you are moving forward, the hitbox will still be a few feet (like one or two) in front of you... If you are moving back the hitbox is one or two feet behind you, and not synched with the model...

Today especiallly I was noticing it... It happens with bots too (and they have 5 ping so it can't really be a lag issue)

I don't mind it too much though... It would definetely be a plus to see it fixed, but it's not 100% necessary for me at least... I"m sure 99% of all people disagree :p

*edit* Oh and maybe its just that the particle effects aren't accurate of where the gun is shooting? Because remember the particle effects are client-side and not server-side so maybe the server is updaintg more than the client and thus it appears funky? I could swear that some days the hitboxes just don't feel right though.

Hitboxes on crouching people in HL2: DM are really funky. Shots go straight through the head and part of the upper chest. That's right, no headshots on crouching people. It sucks.

I was hoping they'd have it fixed for HL2: DM in this update, but it looks like it's still a problem.

Another lost person. The hitbox arent messed up. Learn to aim. seriously so sick of people talking out of their ass.

cl_smooth 0
cl_interp 0
cl_interpolate 0

^^^^ Puts the hitboxes 100% where the model is. IF YOU DONT Like the small little choop then make interpolate 1 hitboxes will still be right on just might go off when your net lags etc. The hitboxes can never be perfect it all depends on what your rates are and how good the server and your net are.

With interpolate 0 it FORCES the hitboxes on the model. Meaning the server wont predict were people are. = choopness.

rate 25000

//Lower updaterate/cmd if your net doesnt support these//
cl_updaterate 101
cl_cmdrate 101

hitbox issue

ok, maybe im a bit of a newb, but i see the hitboxes working like this:

if someone is running fwds, you aim slightly ahead of them...right?

so the hitboxes would have to be slightly infront of the model during fwd movement to register these hits. because the bullets arnt actual projectiles, im assuming the game goes on the location of the crosshairs when you pull the trigger? if they are within the hitboxes - its a hit, if not, its a miss.

i admit the HL2DM crouching issue isnt too good.

* btw, ive never see the hitboxes playing up apart from in a short video clip
