LANSDALE, Pa. (AP) - A man accused of burglarizing an auto-repair shop and stealing cash and a digital camera apparently didn't plan on a fresh snowfall.

Lansdale police said footprints in the new snow Tuesday led to the arrest of David J. Schild Jr. in connection with a burglary at Trails Automotive, where a window was broken and the building was ransacked.

"The footprints went right from the scene of the burglary to the front door where he lived, about a block away," Sgt. Dean Miller said. He said a pair of sneakers was found in the basement with a pattern that matched the footprints.

Miller said Schild admitted breaking into the garage. He was charged with burglary, attempted burglary, criminal trespass and possession of an instrument of crime, arraigned before Lansdale District Judge Harold Borek, and held in the Montgomery County Prison on $50,000 bail, with a preliminary hearing scheduled Dec. 16.

Haha what a loser. :D

I wouldn't be surprised if he was dressed in black and white stripes, carrying a swag bag.

Ok, so how about this cool story from my Crime Scene Investigation class:

My professor is a retired Pittsburgh homicide detective who later became homicide Commander. One time he showed up to a scene and talked with the first officer who responded to the call. There was quite a bit of snow on the ground, and that officer had noticed a foot impression in the snow and thought enough to empty a garbage can and place it over the impression. They did not have the necessary materials to pull a lift from snow at that time, so they photographed it. Later, my professor sent it to a specialist in Alabama (if I remember corectly). She called him back after receiving the picture and told him this: The killer was African-American, 19-23, and weighed between 170-185. The man he later arrested and who confessed to the murder was Black, 19 years old, and weighed 180. He was so impressed he later took a trip to Alabama to meet her.

Yeah, he couldnt believe it when he solved the case.

Okay, thats quite amazing story kaf11. Reminds me of a story that my optician told me. The police came to him to help them catch a offender, he left a piece of evidence behind - his glasses. From his glasses, my optician could tell, he was very short sighted/blind so he had to stay low, his left side of his glasses was weaker then the other side, so he could tell he was left handed, the glasses were very oily on the sides, so he was living off pasties (and other things, I can't remember). 2 days later, they found him.

It really is amazing what experts are able to do with such a seemingly insignificant piece of evidence.

The place was called TRAILS Automotive, are you kidding me or what?
