Bought a copy of HL2 off ebay. Full version, not just the CD key. But apparently the CD key is already in use with another steam account.

Is there anyway to play HL2 without steam. I have the cds already. Or am I out of luck.

thanks

Thanks but already too late for that.

I am not looking to play anything online, just want to play HL2 on my computer. Am I out of luck?

thanks

You're out of luck alright :(

Buy it in a store (not a second-hand one :p) or order it from Steam.

What if he unplugged the cable from his modem/router? Not everybody has the net.

You need a Steam account with a valid CD-key to even play, remember? Doesn't matter if he wants to play offline or online.

Hmm...

Well this was some time ago..... A friend of mine bought a second hand copy of HL2, no CD key, no internet connection. I let him use my CD key to install it, every thing worked fine, it was an older copy though.

you should have gotten steam account details, too...not to mention it was against the EULA to sell the game there, it's useless for you. you could even tell the seller to give you your money back, or give you the steam login.

He is right. :(

I tried reinstalling without the internet connection. Wouldnt work. Think I am shit out of luck. Oh well, maybe I can get my money back:dozey:

BIG maybe, worth a try i guess. Try emailing the seller for the steam account.

Try see if VALVe will sell you a CD key.

But yeah, you kinda just ****ed yourself over.
