i have been having lots of troblem trying to update my BOIS for my mobo.

The only reason i keep trying this is because my CD-drives ARE ALL acting weird and not playing DVD's or burning anything, yet they work on my dad's computer fine. SO i reformatted My HD and REinstalled windows, and i get same problems, SO about 2 months later I found a forum tech site that said I should update BOIS, so thats where im stuck :flame:

I went to there site and read the instuctions on how to update them, so I created a bootable floppy with the files needed and then i restart comp and boot from floppy to run BOIS update.

When the floppy is bootaing it says

"the following file is missing or corruped: COMMAND.COM"

And so i made a new bootable floppy and it get same ERROR !!

help please.... please ...please .. im so close to fixing CD-drives

ummmmm DUH !!!

ive read that 20 times??!#

have you even read my POST !!

It says im missing a file

"COMMAND.COM"

8i remember my computer tech teadcher saying something along the lines of this file when booting floppy, but cant remember. :frown:

How are you making a bootdisk for a start? I wouldn't recommend the built in function that windows XP has as the boot disk it creates isnt of much use.

try grabbing a good one from http://www.bootdisk.com/

hmmm ok.

I deleteed all files on 4 different disks and everyone of them says "head error 27 or 24 or 33 or 12"
and then i click ignore and it has more errors on all my DIFFERENT brand disks WTF !!!

is there a different program ?

here is the error i get.

IS the bIOS even my problem ??

Because it shows up in my BIOS fine, but it just freezes most of the time when i put any type of CD in it.

MAYBE IDE drivers ???

Cause it says that i dont have any IDE drivers installed. ?
Where would the correct ones for my situation be download at ?

thanks for all your guys's help

doesnt look like it.... might be a fault batch of floppies are if the floppies are from different sources it might be the floppy itself. Since you've been having probs with disk drivers it could also relate to that...

one reason i hate SiS... thier support sucks...

try right clicking my computer > properties > hardware >device manager and selecting the current IDE channel/ drivers and rightclicking them... you should get an option to update drivers... point windows to the set you have downloaded...

ok so i updated these drivers.

AND umm same problem ?!?!

I was in a tech class for a like 2 years and I dont think anyone in the world has the same problems I do.

It is very very weird what my computer's CD-Drives are doing.

And no i dont have a virus cause i reformatted 2 days ago. AGAIN
i have the IDE cables correct and ive even tried buying new ones and try the ones that work for my HD and switched them and i get same problem with just the DRIVES. At first (one year ago) I thought my drive borke so i bought a new one and its doing the same exact thing, so i checked both drives and the work perfect in other computers. SO i thought it was drivers, I updated ALLLLLL my drivers(included IDE drivers) and i mean ALL, eccept for the BIOS, but I'm thinking if my CD-DRIVES all worked back with the same exact BIOS then why would they all the sudden ALL stop working.

I even switch my CD-DRIVES to primary IDE instead of MASTER IDE and, well, you guessed it, i get same problem.

And so this is where im stuck, This problem is really frustrating cause there is no other solution at all.

I think you should change your sig to something more appropriate. you are in abit of a pickle, speaking of pickle... where's my lovely Branston? ;(

Dont worry dude, you cheer up there. Make yourself a cup of cocoa, watch neighbours and think about replacing your computer completely ;)

well ok here is EXACTLY what my DRIVES do in my computer.

#1. when you put in a DVD they basiclly freeze my computer until i take it out, then 1.2 seconds later (after ive taken the cd out) my computer runs flawless.

#2. most software works pretty good when installing, some dont wont to install on my computer.

#3. I cant burn ANY CD's unless there MEMOREX brand and I have to burn at 8x speed, only auido files.

#4. 90% of freinds burnt games or music does the same thing as #1 does.

So basically I dont use DRIVES any more. I try and find away around useing them now. AND ITS really really pissing me off that I cant just seem to fix it. :rolling: ANd its driving me crazy everyday.
