i have a ati 9000 pro, 1.3 ghz, 512 mb ram and with everything lowest half life 2 still ran at about 20 - 40 fps on mine :)

Runs not good.. :( :flame: I have no clue why? I have a ATI Radeon 9800 Pro..processor is fine..ram is good..I know it isn't suppose to be laggy like it is...

Aside from the long load times, it ran flawlessly, save for that scene in the abandoned factory? Where the elite combine start lobbing grenades and such at you, and you're on this lift type dealy....
No idea why it started lagging there.

3ghz p4, 1gb DDR400, 6800GT o/c to 430/1200 ..... ABSOLUTE LOVELYNESS ON MY SCREEN....dear god...still loving that distorted combine sheild look thingy....you know on those turrets lol!!!

I have an Athlon XP 1700+, 320mb and geforce2 MX400. Apart from the battles in City 17, the game was very playable. :D

My P43.06, 512mb, 9600 Pro ran at 1024by768, high details with 2xAA, 4xAF with average of 50 fps, only slowdown was at the beginning of levels.

My P41.8, 256mg, G4MX440 ran at 1024by768, 2xAA, 4xAF, highest it could go (damn you DirectX7!) with the exact same stats from the above.

HL2 runs very smooth on my pc. althought i do experience that sutter bug when i turn a corner or enter a new area. damn bug!!! besides that, everything runs smoothly. oh yea, running it on 1024x768, eveything on high, vsync on, world reflect, and 4x AA.

Myself... Much better than expected.
I played with full detail at 1024x768. (High enough res for me)
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128
AMD Athlon 64 3000+
1 GB Samsung DDR 400 Ram

Vote: Better than I expected. I'm running at 1024x768 with everything on high, no AA/AF, and vsync enabled and I'm getting excellent framerates with no slowdown, and the game simply looks stunning. Source is superbly optimized.

ownzed can i ask what are the settings that u are trying to run it at. i have the exact same settings practically and it runs ****ing smooth on mine, with all the setting cranked to high.

PEACE

Mike

It ran better than expected actually. Was pretty smooth at 1088x612 (4xAA/8xAF). Of course I played at an unexpected resolution (widescreen) instead of 1024x768 or 1280x960.
1600x900 (4xAA/8xAF) could get a bit laggy at times although it only really got bad with Vsync on (18FPS at times in the Canal).

Vsync

Well, my computer has the stuttering problem with HL2. If you ignore the stuttering problem, HL2 runs amazing. If you take into account the stuttering problem, HL2 runs much worse than I expected.

1280x960 All details max with 4AA and 8AF.

XP 2800+
1 GB Ram
X800 Pro

1280x1024x32 all settings on high,DX 9, 4xaa 4xaf.
I get the average of 100fps, never drops below 70fps in very heavy fights.

AMD Athlon 64 4000+
1.5GB Corsair XMS DDR 3200
ATI X800PRO

it runs like shit on my system, xp3200+ 512mbddr 6800 xp pro

i hope the patch fixes the stuttering then my performance will be great.

what exactly is the stuttering problem? (I know obviously the game would be stuttering, but could anyone explain exactly when/how? and how frequently)

It actually ran very well on my system with 6x AGP, 6x AF, high everything, vertical sync and resolution of 1024by768.

Oh and I have a gig of ram, a 2.53 GHz processor, and a Radeon 9700 Pro

I think he meens how the sounds stutter occasionally.

2.8 P4, 512 RAM, 9600XT Radeon, 16 mb Creative Sound Blaster. Runs very nicely on medium settings. I'm really impressed (no sloppy game code here - thanks Valve). I do have some sound and video stuttering when I enter new areas. I plan to get another 512 RAM which (together with the patch that's on its way), sould clear up these minor problems. It's by far the nicest looking game that will run well on my system.

I have 768mb of RAM, 2.8ghz P4 and an 128mb GeForce MX 4000, and it runs better than I expected.
The only thing that bugs me is...that I see my video card render the floor as I walk forward.
Like I can see the area unblur itself, which is weird.
But it actually runs very smoothly, with only an occasional stutter, which the patch will fix.

The stutterings and pauses were, I assumed at the time, to be due to my system not being up to the settings I'd chosen (a little higher than the ones it chose for me) but after lowering them to just above minimum ans still experiencing them, I figured it was just the game or my RAM. I increased it to high on most things and it ran great.

I'm now playing it through again on maximum resolution, everything on high and 4XAA and AF... runs like a dream still and looks even better... except for those stutterings and pauses.

For anyone who's interested I'm running it on a P4 3GHz, 512MB RAM with a 9800XT.
